Fresh off the heels of their east coast tour, the critically acclaimed, award-winning Boston, MA–based indie electro alternative disruptors Air Traffic Controller (ATC) continue paving their path by announcing west coast fall tour dates in support of their third album, BLACK BOX.

ATC will continue to take BLACK BOX on the road all through November, hitting spots in Reno, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Portland.

It’s no surprise that ATC’s latest project has been capturing the attention and support from listeners. The five-piece band stirred up quite a buzz with their comedic music video for the project’s’ first single “The House”, earning them not only an Improper Bostonian’s award for “Boston’s Best” Music Video, but a New England Music Award for Best Video as well. With its cheeky and clever lyrics, unshakable hook, and dog in a Superman cape, the clip made its debut on MTVU, hit rotation on MTV2, and even graced the homepage of Funny Or Die.

“The track “The House” is a perfect college anthem if you ask me. The vocals are fun, lyrics engaging, and it’s actually laugh out loud funny.” – Ear To The Ground

In recent news, The 2016 Boston Music Awards announced its nominees this month, with Air Traffic Controller getting not just one, but three nominations for Song of the Year (“On The Wire”), Video of the Year (“The House”), and Female Vocalist of the Year (Casey Sullivan).

“Sullivan comes forward as a lead vocalist, adding a dreamy overtone to the band’s already-exuberant sound. Her voice beautifully soars over a handclap-friendly beat, sparkling guitars & hypnotizing synths,” Buzzbands LA.

For BLACK BOX, the band adapted a new approach to the recording process and vocal responsibilities by showcasing vocals from both frontman Dave Munro and newly appointed frontwoman Casey Sullivan. Their chemistry sizzles throughout the album, trading hypnotic harmonies over intricate and intriguing instrumentation, keeping fans on their toes and excited about the new album.

“Black Box is deeply symphonic. Both bright and edgy, the band harnesses the enveloping boom-clap of a concert hall in its incredibly catchy, marching rhythms while Munro and Sullivan’s vocals layer perfectly, switching between bouncing, upbeat sing-a-longs to dreamier, after-dark numbers that have the power to lull you to laid-back places.” – Howl Mag

In addition to “The House,” highlight tracks include “Warrior,” “Phantom,” “Water Falls,” and “What You Do To My Soul.” Free Bike Valet calls the album “Ravishing,” Culture Collide calls it, “A sonorous mix of bright, edgy sounds,” while Indie Shuffle notes, “If this is what feel-good music sounds like, I want buckets and buckets more of it.”

Air Traffic Controller have created a place all their own in the indie pop world. Serving in the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller, singer/songwriter Dave Munro sent home demos written during deployment. Bandmate and singer/songwriter Casey Sullivan met Dave soon thereafter, and the two forged a collaborative bond that has become the vocal sound of ATC. With an eclectic song catalog and category-defying organic/electronic sound, people are taking notice of ATC. They were 2015 Billboard Hot 100 Fest performers with The Weeknd and Justin Bieber, placed on the NPR “Hot 100 List” for SXSW, named The Guardian UK “Band of the Day,” won “Best Indie Alternative Song” in the Independent Music Awards, have over 15 million Spotify plays, and landed syncs with Bose, MTV, NBC, ABC, Disney, Verizon, Toyota, and many more.

The band started the new year with showcases in Park City at Sundance with ASCAP, Toyota Music Lodge, Zen Den, and Cisero’s. They followed this up with their first Sixthman Rock Boat cruise with bands like Bronze Radio Return, Jukebox The Ghost, and Michael Franti. An official act again this year at SXSW, ATC played showcases for McDonald’s, the Grammy Museum, and was featured on Alt Nation’s playlist of bands to watch at this year’s festival.
