The Silent Comedy Celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Common Faults with an exclusive Vinyl Re-Issue and West Coast Record Store Tour
In conjunction with Record Store Day, the Silent Comedy will be re-issuing their debut album Common Faults to honor the album’s Fifth Anniversary on April 15. The re-issue of Common Faults has been completely remixed and re-mastered and will be available on vinyl for the first time ever.
The Silent Comedy is lead by brothers Jeremiah and Joshua Zimmerman. For the Zimmermans, music has always been a means by which to cope with challenging circumstances. As children, after traveling the globe with their missionary parents only to return to the United States, meander some more, then settle down in San Diego in a house with literally nothing but an upright piano, the two brothers looked to musical collaboration in their mid-teens as a stem to their bewilderment.
“Common Faults was our first real attempt at making a proper full length record.” says Joshua Zimmerman. “We didn’t quite know what direction we wanted to go, and recording Common Faults was, in many ways, an experiment. Our writing has grown so much since then, it is shocking to look back at that process and realize that we didn’t even have written parts for most of the musicians.”
What started off as a very DIY record, where the band recorded and mixed the album almost entirely on their own with the help of Shaun Cornell (Louis XIV, Transfer), ended up being a surprise success. To date, Common has gone through three rounds of CD re-pressings due to demand from fans, garnered over 100 thousand downloads, numerous film and TV licenses, over 10 million streams on YouTube, Spotify and Soundcloud.
Common Faults marked a turning point in the Silent Comedy’s sound which up until this recording was mostly acoustic. The album chronicles the journey of the band finding their sound and transitioning into the rock n’ roll four piece that they are today. The Silent Comedy will be taking this re-issue on the road playing a series of intimate shows at record stores, ending in their home town of San Diego.
In addition to the re-issue the Silent Comedy will be releasing never before seen footage and photos from the making of the album documented by The Joelsons. Selected images will be printed in a twelve-panel booklet, included with the limited edition 12” vinyl.
