Nashville’s Zayde Wølf has released “Born Ready (Reimagined)” a reinterpretation of one of Wølf’s most beloved songs “Born Ready,” from his debut full length album Golden Age. “Born Ready (Reimagined)” is part of a series that sees Zayde Wølf mastermind Dustin Burnett reinterpreting some of his most popular songs. “Last year I hit one of those songwriting walls,” says Burnett on how the concept of the series started. “I couldn’t get over it. No new idea seemed compelling. I was listening to alot of soundtracks and started writing mini orchestral type themes and song ideas and mixing those with my older songs. The best news is that these reimagined songs have helped me break out of the creativity slump.” Wølf will be releasing an EP of these “Reimagined” songs on October 30th.
“Oblivion’ is a beautifully layered and theatrical slow-burn that builds with stirring harmonies and intense instrumentals. It has all the makings of a sci-fi or superhero blockbuster movie soundtrack.” –Forbes Magazine (on the last reimagined track “Oblivion”)
“Born Ready” is about overcoming obstacles which in the original version is expressed with this real heavy and strong type of song. But there is a lot of power in subtlety giving this new version a whole different feeling. “Nick Box, the co-producer on all of these songs, really brings something special to the production,” says Burnett. “Sometimes Nick will start an idea for the song before I even see it or sing on it and he composes these very interesting and sometimes very elegant and very bold types of string arrangements and orchestral type things. So his sophistication brings a very new feeling to the music as well. 'Born Ready' was also one of the songs that was first requested in the Reimagined series and so I’m thankful that everyone wanted to hear that song and I hope that they love this new take of it in just a new way. Reimagined songs are not made to be in competition with the old one, it’s not like this one is better than this one, it’s just a different viewpoint on the song, composition and lyrics.”
With ZAYDE WØLF, the Burnett has built a reputation for music that inspires, motivates and most importantly connects. "I get all these emails, sometimes one a week,” Burnett told Billboard, “with all these stories about how the music has moved people in some way. I wanted to continue to make music for people to be inspired by."
