Buffalo Rose

OUT TODAY: BUFFALO ROSE RELEASES NEW LP AGAIN, AGAIN, AGAIN VIA MISRA RECORDS

LISTEN: AGAIN, AGAIN, AGAIN

Today, Pittsburgh-based, award-winning, acoustic collective Buffalo Rose has released their new LP Again, Again, Again via Misra Records. The band chose the perfect name for this, their second full-length album, as listeners will have its 11 sparkling gems on repeat.

Pure, crystalline vocal harmonies soar stratospherically through the album, cascading over sparkling beds of mandolin, guitar, dobro, and bass. Vocalists Lucy Clabby, Margot Jezerc, and Shane McLaughlin dwell in the notes in these songs, turning them in and out and capturing every nuance of phrasing. From gently swirling ballads like “Reason and Passion,” the ethereally soaring “Hallelujah Anyway,” and the Beatles-esque “Escape Artist,” to the operatic and stunningly gorgeous “New World” the tracks on Again, Again, Again reverberate in hearts and souls long after the last notes fade.

The album explores the lows of late-night loneliness, offers satirical takes on 21st-century culture and politics, and poignantly explores the wonders and pitfalls of love in the modern world. Each track brims with beauty in its harmonic blend of voices and strings.

BUFFALO ROSE RELEASES NEW SINGLE “u up?”

LISTEN: “u up?”

Today, Pittsburgh-based, award-winning, acoustic collective Buffalo Rose has released “u up?,” the latest from their forthcoming LP Again, Again, Again, due out November 18th.

Hauntingly spare, the song, lead by former Buffalo Rose vocalist Rosanna Spindler, captures the loneliness of the singer seeking solace in the voice of her lover through heart-wrenching vocals, stirring mandolin strums, and aching dobro runs. The poignant closing track of the album evokes the yearning we feel for a beloved when we seek certainty about a relationship or just the certainty that a night alone is not the end of the world.

The single follows the release of “Body Language,” a propulsive soul song that perfectly captures the double meaning of the title, “Machine Man,” a jaunty, percussive, satiric take on politics and culture in America in the 21st century–swooping doo-wop vocals play call and response to the lead vocals as the singer pokes a little fun at promises made but never delivered. The singer remains hopeful for the future, even in the midst of the failure of hope.

Vocalists Lucy Clabby, Margot Jezerc, and Shane McLaughlin dwell on each note, turning them in and out and capturing every nuance of phrasing. Songs range from the gently swirling ballad “On Reason and Passion,” the ethereal “Hallelujah Anyway,” and the Beatles-esque “The Escape Artist,” to the operatic and stunningly gorgeous “New World.”  Intimate songwriting weaves into the band’s organic blend of vocals and instrumentation, delivering little gems of perfection, and the music reverberates in hearts and souls long after the last notes fade.

BUFFALO ROSE WINS GRAND PRIZE AT 18TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL ACOUSTIC MUSIC AWARDS + RABBIT EP WITH WITH TOM PAXTON VIA MISRA RECORDS OUT NOW

OFFICIAL SXSW SHOWCASE IN AUSTIN THIS MARCH

LISTEN: RABBIT EP

Today, Pittsburgh-based sextet Buffalo Rose, recently awarded the Overall Grand Prize at the 18th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards, released their new EP, Rabbit, via Misra Records. The EP was made in collaboration with GRAMMY-winning artist and folk legend Tom Paxton.

Rabbit, a perfect release for the last gasp of winter, combines Paxton’s honed writing skills with the instrumental prowess of Buffalo Rose. The songs encompass how sweet, wild, and precious the present is when it is all you have. The world is strange and dangerous for a rabbit, but even so, a rabbit knows how to take pleasure– in green grass, a safe burrow, or in the warmth of another body. Rabbit’s themes are derived from the hope of doing all we can do to find what we’re looking for. In this EP, these seven musicians explore answers to many questions and have some serious fun in the process.

Buffalo Rose is a wildly charismatic six-piece modern folk/Americana band from Pittsburgh that will change your entire perspective on acoustic music.
