LISTEN TO “KANSAS CITY” : HERE

The Mowgli’s have released their new single “Kansas City” and will concluding their current tour at recordBar tomorrow night in Kansas City, MO. For the California band these new songs and this current tour have been all about perspective. The Mowgli’s have experienced the whirlwind that comes with having multiple hit songs; being on major labels, touring constantly, and the personal and professional challenges that come with being a working band. It’s a journey that has tested the band’s stamina, relationships and their mental and emotional health. They been have through ups and downs, including losing band members but the driving force that has kept them going is their mission to bring hope and positivity into the world.

“From political unjust and ‘fake news’ to climate change and tragic natural disasters, it's difficult to see the good things sometimes. But if anyone can do it, it's the Mowgli's.” - Pop Crush

They started off the year releasing the feel good, fist-pumping song, “Real Good Life,” to offer up some relief in these strange sociopolitical times, and give audiences an opportunity to look at the world through a glass half full.

“As if we didn’t already have enough reasons to love them, the alt-rock legends are committed to providing an antidote to all of the negativity pervading the current socio political landscape with “Real Good Life”. It’s uplifting, powerful, and if you’re in the mood for a positivity fix, it’s just what the doctor ordered.”  - Bands In Town

"Kansas City" came from a place of self-reflection. After spending the majority of the past few years on the road, the band developed a deeper connection to the idea of home. Not just the physical space of a home, but the comfort, ease and sense of belonging that home brings. Writing the song was a reminder of the one thing that really makes a place home and a city unique: the people. Whether it’s the food, the architecture, the art, the scenery - it all stems from the people. Kansas City has always been a warm and welcoming place for the band and is somewhere they love playing, somewhere that feels like home. It also happens to be the hometown of guitarist/vocalist Colin Dieden. “This song is about missing the simplicity and familiarity of a life I used to live, that I often find myself looking for now,” says Dieden.  They wrote this song for the City, and for all the people and places who give us a sense of home and make us who we are.

“The California-based band’s set list was chock full of songs spanning their entire discography, including the hit “San Francisco”, and the audience couldn’t have been more thrilled. We all left the show fueled with enough energy to get through the rest of the week.” - WHGB

This 20+ city packed out tour, that wraps up in Kansas City on Saturday March 24th at recordBar, stuck to the same ethos of simplicity and getting back to basics. The band has been playing smaller, sold out rooms on this tour to re-establish a more intimate connection with fans.

“Upbeat pop rock songs, which included plenty of  whistling, snapping, and “doo doo doos,” were interspersed with soliloquies about loving ourselves and those around us.” - Third Coast Review

Formed in 2010 by the coalescing of a Venice music collective, The Mowgli’s began as a 10+ member group playing house parties and warehouse gatherings. The release of their first major-label LP Waiting For The Dawn in 2013 saw immediate success with the hit single “San Francisco." The record - which focused on the joy of bringing people together -  immediately connected in a cynical world. The band quickly found themselves playing to sold out crowds in clubs around the US and inundated by requests for press, sponsorships and partnerships.  Appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Firefly, Osheaga, Bottlerock and many other festivals followed as did performances on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan and a stint as the SXSW House band for Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live (Bravo).
