RYAN INNES RELEASES “I NEED A LOVER” SINGLE + ANNOUNCES HIS DEBUT ALBUM THE INBETWEEN OUT 3/23

I Need a Lover, a song by Ryan Innes on Spotify

Salt Lake City native Ryan Innes, and alumni of NBC’s The Voice is excited to announce the release of his debut full length album THE INBETWEEN- due out on March 23. The soulful and groove-filled first single “I Need a Lover” is out now worldwide. THE INBETWEEN is available for pre-order via Pledgemusic HERE.

Innes has been involved in and around music his entire life. He is a classically trained pianist who grew up singing in the Phoenix Boys Choir, and in local church groups. Although he enjoyed  performing in these settings, the traditional and classical music didn’t quite connect with him on an emotional level. It wasn’t until he was introduced to R&B that Innes began a deep and personal involvement with music that would begin to change his life.

The first album to catch his attention was a Boyz II Men album a friend gave him. “It was like nothing I’d experienced before,” said Innes. “These people really expressing their emotions through their music and voices. It was completely different than the stuff I had grown up with. It really opened my eyes to music’s ability to speak to the listener.”

Innes continued his connection and love for music but didn’t start to take a serious look at pursuing music as a career until his early 20’s when his life took a dramatic turn. He had just finished a Pre-Med degree only to realize he wasn’t passionate about science, while also going through a broken engagement. Music is what pulled him through, leading him to dive head first into at the music program at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, a city that has become a mecca of emerging talent, producing such artists as Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees and Lindsey Stirling.

Innes gained tremendous popularity in the local music scene in Provo, enabling him to quit his serving job at Red Robin and focus on music full time. In 2013 he took a leap and auditioned for NBC’s The Voice receiving a four-chair turn  from the judges. He chose to work with Usher and spent his time on the show being mentored by Usher and Pharrell Williams, the experience of which was like getting a crash course PHD in music and performing.

After The Voice, Innes returned to Utah to focus on writing what would become THE INBETWEEN, and co-writing with artists such as McKay Stevens and Nate Pyfer who co-wrote Kaskade’s 2014 grammy-nominated track “Atmosphere”.

Having observed that most songs are written either about the lowest parts of life, or the highest parts, he decided to focus on that gray area in between the two extremes. The emotional space  where we live most of our lives, and thus the concept for  –THE INBETWEEN -was born. The album as a whole takes the listener on an eclectic sonic journey through eleven expertly crafted songs. From New Orleans drenched horns on “The Same Night,” the ethereal electronics on “Show Me What’s Real,”  to the guttural percussion of “Crazy Wonderful” and the lush string orchestrations of “So Far Away,“ all layered with Innes’ distinctly emotive voice, proving that the in between of life is not so gray after all, but full of vibrant colors.

STAL RELEASES "THE CRIME"

STAL MAKES A POWERFUL STATEMENT ON RELATIONSHIPS IN OUR MODERN WORLD WITH THE RELEASE OF “THE CRIME”

stal - the crime art.jpeg

The Crime, a song by STAL on Spotify

The Parisien band STAL, who now call Los Angeles home are continuing their artistic metamorphosis with the release of “The Crime.”

STAL which  translates to “Steel” in more than a few languages, conjures feelings of coldness and evokes imagery of a modern, industrial life. But with this new material STAL mastermind Pierre Marie- Maulini strikes the perfect balance between the cold, sleek varnish aesthetic and something decidedly more harmonious and human. “The Crime” is a seductive R&B tinged track that mixes electronic beats with post rock/etherial guitars. It is the sound of where STAL is headed. Thematically the song observes our modern world as we adopt more isolationist and selfish behavior.  Hiding behind facades (online and in real life), taint the purity of love and intimacy, making our relationships the first victims of this behavior. This self-obsessed focus on our careers and personal development is “The Crime.”

“The Crime” is off the forthcoming EP Fresh Blood produced by Eric Palmquist (Night Riots, Bad Suns, Mutemath) out this spring,  The EP’s title track, released this past fall was praised as “ an energetic anthem likening their sexual energy to their lust for art,” by the Burning EarEQ Music praised “Fresh Blood” as a song “awash with uplifting, synths, full-on effervescent, attitude and pop-culture inspired lyrics. Both the catchy melody and eloquent, alluring lyrics have a tendency, to stick in the mind. The song is a definite crowd pleaser and, is styled with a sound of heartwarming pep and, verve. It is primed, for impending, festival domination.” Buzzbands said “the elastic bass line carries the song to its happy place. Vibe-wise, it’s not far from where “Saturdays = Youth” took us, and there are worse places to be.”

Maulini’s first project was a  post-rock effort influenced by Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky called A Red Season Shade. This caught the ear of local shoegaze icon Anthony Gonzalez. The two developed a close friendship and artistic bond, leading to Maulini being asked to come and play guitars and synths as part of M83 for the tour following the release of the critically acclaimed chart topping album, Saturdays = Youth. The band spent almost two years traveling around the world, opening for bands such as Kings Of Leon in the UK, Midnight Juggernauts in Australia, and headlining sold out shows all over America.

Maulini channeled everything he learned from touring with M83 into the creation of STAL, diving deeper into this new world of musical possibilities he had discovered,  all while incorporating his guitar centric roots. With STAL Maulini is always reaching for something bigger. His prior releases, the We Are Two EP and his debut full-length, Young Hearts (2015) led to touring with acts like Nothing But Thieves and Matt & Kim.

Upon his  move to the U.S Maulini struck up a fast friendship with producer Eric Palmquist who was a fan of STAL.  Maulini was quickly taken by Palmquist’s process and efficiency. Much in the same way that Gonzalez opened Maulini’s eyes to the level of professionalism needed to be successful on the road, Palmquist would instill in Maulini the need for diligence in the recording studio. After a short time, Maulini was impressed enough with their shared musical heritage and vision for what the project could be that he settled on Palmquist to help elevate his next batch of songs into new territory. The result was the five tracks that make up Fresh Blood. STAL will be headed to SXSW as an official showcasing artist and their next U.S. show is on 2/21 in Los Angeles at the Breaking Sound showcase at the Study.

Every now and then a nightclub comes along where the most imaginative night creatures can be themselves to the core and walk the wild side of human existence. So what if it takes you two weeks to get your inner look on the outside, you now have a place to glow! I didn't get to go to Studio 54 in New York, but I did get to go to Blitz Club in London, Club Makeup in LA, and Motherfucker in New York.  I can tell you Danny Fuentes has put LA back on the Map with SEX CELLS. It's where all the Street Walking Cheetahs need to be !”

For their one year anniversary, Lethal Amounts teamed up with Goldenvoice, a kindred spirit whose roots are forged in championing the underground, to bring their monthly club night Sex Cells to the El Rey Theatre. The club has re-energized the nightlife scene in Los Angeles with the imaginative curation and the colorful cast of characters, who attend each month.  This past year has seen Sex Cells host a wide variety of incredible artists and creative guests such as Sky Ferreira, Cold Cave, Nick Zinner (The Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Brooke Candy, Miss Kittin, Amanda LePore, Traci Lords, Prayers and even the original party monster, Michael Alig.

Sex Cells is the vision of Lethal Amounts owner and creative head Danny Fuentes. Sex Cells was started as a platform to showcase upcoming artists, and has developed a reputation for unexpected lineups, bringing together talent who normally would never share the same stage and providing a safe space to let your freak flag fly.

“It’s my kind of  playground... one for us fabulous freaks”  -Traci Lords

Sex Cells  packs out every month, attracting a wide array of characters due to the openness of the environment, and creative freedom Fuentes and his team foster and encourage. ”Sex Cells is the perfect outlet for creative people looking for more than just another club night,” says performer Amanda LePore. “It’s a place where anything can happen and it encourages people to go outside the lines. I couldn’t of asked for a better line up to be a part of.”

Wes Eisold of Cold Cave says "Sex Cells is total freedom. A post-everything universe of its own... what you spent your whole youth imagining what the night could be.” DJ Keoki, a veteran of the New York Club Kid scene said, “the world is losing its religion but LA has a new punk pope in Fuentes and Sex Cells is our church. BELLE MT RELEASES "LOVING YOU" VIA LV MUSIC

LONDON’S BELLE MT. RELEASES “LOVING YOU” VIA NASHVILLE LABEL LV MUSIC

Loving You Cover Art_preview.jpeg

Loving You, a song by Belle Mt on Spotify

“As guitar strums keeps us locked in a steady, pulsing rhythm, we are gently guided into a hazy, dreamy atmosphere of ever-building, passionate emotion, all grounded by Belmont’s piercing, present voice.” - Ones to Watch

London’s Belle Mt. has released “Loving You” through Nashville label LV Music. “Loving You” which is currently featured on the Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist is the follow up to “Hollow,” the second song musician Matt Belmont released under the Belle Mt. moniker. Upon its release “Hollow” jumped to over 500K streams on Spotify which lead to a very warm and packed welcome at on his first U.S. show at the Basement in Nashville this fall.

Belle Mt.  [Spoken; Belle-Mont] is a project that conceived during a withdrawal Matt took from public performances and releases between 2014 and 2016. During this time he dedicated himself to introspective periods of songwriting development, beginning a journey musically and geographically as he wrote, co-wrote and produced. His current sound started to develop on a self-imposed retreat to a friends’ unfinished family home to write in solitude at the foothills of the French alps. There, Matt started experimenting with sounds that mirrored his surroundings and the mountain views out of his makeshift studio window. The resulting sonics were ethereal productions for songs and developing the basis of a more cinematic and epic sound.

This new music made it’s way into the hands of Nashville based Grammy award winning producer and LV Music label owner; Femke Weidema. Femke’s production background includes being a collaborator of prolific film music composer Hans Zimmer, this leads to a deep knowledge of rich layering & the creation of dramatic soundscapes. The two found a very deep musical connection that has resulted in a partnership which brings a unique writing and production style to the project, steeped in layered ambience and depth. Working out of home project studios on a shoestring budget, 8 songs were written and demoed in that first 10 day trip, including the soul piercingly gorgeous “Loving You.” “It’s a song about human relationships,” says Matt. “love, turmoil and an admission that sometimes life hits us with emotional choices for which our actions carry a lot of weight of consequence. One of my most profound realizations was that we’re all just making it up as we go along and sometimes we fuck up by taking things for granted or saying things we instantly regret. The line ‘I can’t even help myself, so how do I handle someone else’ is a reflection on adulthood and the responsibility that comes with it; it’s definitely one of the most honest [songs] I’ve ever written.”

BOO RAY RELEASES ORIGINAL HOLIDAY DUET WITH ELIZABETH COOK

BOO RAY RELEASES AN ORIGINAL HOLIDAY DUET WITH ELIZABETH COOK “ALL STRUNG OUT LIKE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS”

BooRayECSingleFront_preview.jpeg

All Strung Out Like Christmas Lights, a song by Boo Ray, Elizabeth Cook on Spotify

“ ... the track was co-written by the two left-leaning singers, who swap harmonies over a boozy bedrock of electric guitar, pedal steel and barroom piano.”

- Rolling Stone Country

Nashville’s Boo Ray is kicking off the Holiday Season with the release of “All Strung Out Like Christmas Lights,” a duet with Elizabeth Cook. This the first in a series of vinyl duet releases Boo Ray is putting out through his partnership with Kindercore Vinyl.

Ray is a long time fan and admirer of Cooks so the song had to be just right.  “Elizabeth is inspiring, entertaining, self effacing and clever as hell," says Ray. "That Texas shuffle is a cool vehicle for the kind of good-natured cuttin' up and carrying on that Elizabeth and I have in common."

The limited edition colored vinyl is is available at select record stores and from Ray’s website. Side A features “All Strung Out Like Christmas Lights” and Side B features Boo Ray’s “I’ve Got the Jug.”

Ray had the privilege of christening the Athens, GA based pressing plant Kindercore Vinyl with the vinyl release of his critically album Sea of Lights this fall.  Produced by Noah Shain (Dead Sara, Escondido, Nikki Lane) the album was recorded at Shain’s White Buffalo studios in Los Angeles backed by an all star band that included Steve Ferrone on drums (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Paul Ill on bass (Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Hole etc.), Sol Philcox-Littlefield (Jim Lauderdale, Jake Owen, Aaron Lewis) on guitar, Dallas Kruse (Justin Grennan, Skylar Stonestreet) on Hammond B3, Smith Curry (Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Gibbons, Kid Rock) on pedal steel, and twin brothers Todd and Troy Gardner (Lenny Kravitz) on backup vocals. The all-star line up recorded 10 songs in two days live to tape, using the  same 2inch tape machine used to record Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and several of Johnny Cash’s nashville albums.

Ray will be continuing the partnership with Kindercore Vinyl with more in the series of 7inch duets coming next year. The Kindercore research and development team have taken active steps toward renewable PVC replacements, seeking to be the first pressing plant to offer petroleum free phonograph records in the coming years. By Boo Ray being the first artist to work with Kindercore he is hoping to set an example, that taking steps towards preserving the planet, can be an simple as working with forward thinking companies like Kindercore.  If enough artists follow Ray’s lead, collectively they can make a huge impact on making the industry more sustainable.

To celebrate the Holiday vinyl release Ray will be supporting Stoney Larue at 3rd and Lindsley Saturday November 18th. More details on the show can be found HERE.

LIEZA RELEASES "DON'T MAKE ME DANCE" VIA LV MUSIC

LIEZA RELEASES “DON’T MAKE ME DANCE” VIA LV MUSIC

Dont-Make-Me-Dance.jpg

Don't Make Me Dance, a song by LIEZA on Spotify

“There is perhaps no better, more hauntingly appropriate time than the present moment for LIEZA’s assertive new single: Mixing colorful electro-pop music with vulnerable and reflective lyrics, ‘Don’t Make Me Dance’ ’is an evocative anthem of independence evoking physical and emotional security.”  – Atwood Magazine

Nashville artist LIEZA has released the powerful new single  “Don’t Make Me Dance,” via Nashville label LV Music.  LIEZA is the creation of singer songwriter Meghan Roner. Before settling in Nashville, Roner bounced around trying to find her musical and creative home in Texas, then London, settling and finding her creative mecca in Nashville and with Grammy award winning producer and songwriter Femke Weidema, who signed LIEZA to her label LV Music. These two women proved to be a powerful force. LIEZA wears her heart on her sleeve inserting her insecurities and raw emotions into her music, and Femke’s masterful production delicately blending beats with acoustic elements. Her last track “Eyeliner” was featured on Apple Music’s Breaking Singer/Songwriter, R3HAB’s Night Playlist and received reviews calling it  “a hypnotic track that slowly swells to first a bubbling ripple, then dreamy electronics and glitchy beats, all overlaid with LIEZA’s soaring vocal” by Born Music and the UK’s Female First Magazine compared her to female pop powerhouses BANKS and Lorde.

“Don’t Make Me Dance” was inspired by the #MeToo movement, and is song about empowerment. The song was written about a situation that nearly every person has experienced, an invasion of one’s personal space by an unwelcome intruder. With this song Roner hopes to inspire listeners to stand up for themselves in bad situations and find the strong sense of self-worth she has found through her music.

STAL RELEASES “FRESH BLOOD” SINGLE

STAL RELEASES “FRESH BLOOD” SINGLE

3_FRESH BLOOD.jpg

LISTEN TO FRESH BLOOD: HERE

Just in time for Halloween  STAL has released the incredible new track “Fresh Blood.” from the eponymous  EP due out next year.  STAL translates to steel in more than a few languages. As a result, the word conjures feelings of coldness and evokes imagery of a modern, industrial life. On the new EP  Pierre-Marie Maulini, the creative force behind  STAL,  strikes the perfect balance between the cold, sleek varnish of this picture and something decidedly more harmonious and human. With the help producer Eric Palmquist (Bad Suns, Mute Math, Night Riots) STAL was able to craft the perfect example of how one can keep their humanity in the age of twenty first century digitalism.

Get Fresh: http://smarturl.it/STALFreshBlood Official Video: https://youtu.be/YjeR8CNlTtw Live Studio Video: https://youtu.be/0f1rgDBjAeI Produced & Mixed by Eric Palmquist Mastered by John Greenham Stay fresh! -- https://www.instagram.com/stalofficial https://open.spotify.com/artist/0tmG4q8xPVP7NJV481rXi3 https://soundcloud.com/stalofficial https://www.facebook.com/STALofficial https://twitter.com/STALofficial https://www.stalmusic.com LYRICS: I’m filled with fresh blood I shoot like John Wayne I scream like Kurt Cobain I walk like Kate Moss Disco like Diana Ross I believe in you I believe in me too A new lease on life We can get it, get it, get it yeah Hands on the wheel I’m feeling alive Oh oh oh oh oh I’m filled with fresh blood Oh oh oh oh oh I’m filled with fresh blood Sexual as Marvin Gaye A fool like Kanye Pop as Madonna Royal as Diana A hungry wolf In the empty streets On the hunt While the city sleeps Not about to let the moment pass I’m going for the kill Sink my teeth in I’m feeling alive I’m clutch like M.J I rock like Presley

Maulinin got his start very young and his first project was a  post-rock effort influenced by Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky called A Red Season Shade. The project lead to him developing a close friendship with local shoegaze icon Anthony Gonzalez. Gonzalez asked Pierre him to come and play guitars and synths as part of M83 for the tour following the release of their fifth album Saturdays = Youth. The band spent almost 2 years traveling around the world, opening for bands such as Kings Of Leon in the UK or Midnight Juggernauts in Australia, and of course headlining sold out shows all over America.

Touring with M83  is where Maulini was first exposed to the world of synths, keyboards and other electronic elements that would soon be so prevalent in the music he would create. Upon his return home from the tour, Maulini wanted to delve deeper into this new world of musical possibilities he had discovered. Still, Maulini hadn’t forgotten his roots and a lot of the guitar work on which he first made a name for himself would remain integral to the new songs he was writing. Post rock is “all about atmosphere” says Maulini, who pulling on his background in the genre, strives to bring an air degree of epicness into his new work. Maulini released first experimental demos from STAL in 2011, and since then release and  EP, We Are Two (2012), and his debut full-length, Young Hearts (2015). The releases were followed  by touring with acts like Nothing But Thieves and Matt & Kim.

Maulini took a huge leap faith this year relocating from Paris to Los Angeles, and the location and cultural shift is ever present in the new material. Palmquist who was a fan of STAL, bonded with  Maulini  immediately over their shared love of Emo. Working with Palmquist would instilled in Maulini the need for diligence in the recording studio. Prior recordings for STAL were a very straightforward process, with a great deal of spontaneity and clumsiness, for Fresh Blood there were countless hours of pre-production. The initial days in the studio consisted solely of listening to the artist and producer’s greatest influences, as well as, Top 40 pop and rock. This led to an extended demoing session that saw their creative direction pulled in many different ways before the two settled on a final vision for the EP. Lyrically, Fresh Blood shows just how much maturity Maulini has gained over the past few years. While he speaks largely to the true and simple happiness one can find in life, love and hope, there is certainly a new level of profundity to his lyrics.

BOO RAY RELEASES “ISLANDS IN THE STREAM” DUET WITH LILLY WINWOOD TO PAY TRIBUTE TO KENNY ROGERS

BooRay&LillyWinwoodCover2.jpg

Islands in the Stream, a song by Boo Ray, Lilly Winwood on Spotify

Nashville’s Boo Ray has teamed up with Lilly Winwood to pay tribute to the great Kenny Rogers as he continues his “Farewell Tour,” with their cover of the classic “Islands in the Stream.”  This is a sneak peak into the 7inch duet series Ray is gearing up to release in partnership with Kindercore Vinyl later this year.

“As a kid I was way into the Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton version of the song,” says Ray. “Earlier this year Lilly Winwood & I were nostalgically digging the song and discovered The Bee Gees wrote it. We gone and went down the Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb rabbit-hole and landed on the soundtrack from “Grease”... it’s just a blast and we had to record it. I think we got kind of a Muscle Shoals take on it.”

Ray who christened the Kindercore pressing plant with the vinyl release of his album Sea of Lights last month is excited for the upcoming duets series, that in addition to Lilly Winwood features collaborations with Elizabeth Cook and celebrity chef Sean Brock. Kindercore is a unique new pressing plant with a mission to modernize the current pressing process by making it more sustainable. The Kindercore research and development team have taken active steps toward renewable PVC replacements, seeking to be the first pressing plant to offer petroleum free phonograph records in the coming years. By Boo Ray being the first artist to work with Kindercore he is hoping to set an example for that taking steps towards preserving the planet, can be an simple as working with forward thinking companies like Kindercore.  If enough artists follow Boo’s lead collectively they can make a huge impact on making the industry more sustainable.

“....his live performances make country music lovers of people who hate twang.”  - Pop Matters

Following the path of great southern troubadours Boo Ray forged & honed his sound on the road in South Georgia honky-tonks, Gulf Coast jukes, Nashville nightclubs & Los Angeles songwriter joints. Hailing from the mountains of Western North Carolina and now spending equal parts time in Nashville, Tennessee; Los Angeles, California; and Athens, Georgia.

While living in LA, Ray struck up a fast friendship and found a kindred spirit in producer  Noah Shain (Dead Sara, Escondido, Nikki Lane). The two collaborated on a few tracks that became Ray’s 2010 album, Bad News Travels Fast and reunited to create Sea of Lights. The album was  recorded Shain’s White Buffalo studios in Los Angeles backed by an all star band that included Steve Ferrone on drums (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Paul Ill on bass (Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Hole etc.), Sol Philcox-Littlefield (Jim Lauderdale, Jake Owen, Aaron Lewis) on guitar, Dallas Kruse (Justin Grennan, Skylar Stonestreet) on Hammond B3, Smith Curry (Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Gibbons, Kid Rock) on pedal steel, and twin brothers Todd and Troy Gardner (Lenny Kravitz) on backup vocals. The all-star line up recorded 10 songs in two days live to tape, using the  same 2inch tape machine used to record Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and several of Johnny Cash’s nashville albums.

“I’ve had it on day and night, soaking up the electric guitar solos and Ray’s gritty, grinning vocal phrasing.” - Uproxx (on Sea of Lights)

The sessions for Sea of Lights were the musical equivalent of getting a PHD from an Ivy League university,  the knowledge from which Ray has channeled into the duet sessions. Next up is an original Holiday song with Elizabeth Cook that will be pressed to special edition color vinyl.

“As it is, “Sea Of Lights” is something special, a neatly constructed song with aspirational, but realistic lyrics about the vicissitudes of the artist’s life.”

ANDREW MCKEAG ANNOUNCES HIS SOLO DEBUT

ANDREW MCKEAG OF THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF HIS SOLO DEBUT THE ANDREW MCKEAG BAND

Andrew McKeag Band

The San Diego based esteemed guitar player and songwriter, Andrew McKeag, who has devoted his entire life to music has brought his lifelong love affair with rock n roll into his self-titled debut album, The Andrew McKeag Band due out on 11/17 . “This is an album of firsts for me,” says McKeag, “ first time I’ve used my name as the name of the band, first record I made after moving back to Southern California from Seattle in 2014 and a first step of sorts, in establishing my own creative world after years of playing with The Presidents Of The USA.”

If anybody can be the torchbearer for rock and roll it’s Andrew.  He’s performed with Bo Diddley and toured with Javier Escovedo. He  maintains his long-running and storied Seattle seventies rock cover band 70 Proof, which has boasted appearances from the likes of Duff McKagan as well as members of Mother Love Bone, Supersuckers, and more. He has played with a slew of bands up and down the West Coast, namelyShuggie, Hard Roller, Uncle Joe’s Big Ol’ Driver, and currently plays with San Diego’s The Dirty Sweet and Lady Dottie & The Diamonds. In 2005 McKeag joined the multi-platinum iconic Seattle luminaries The Presidents Of The United States of America. He toured everywhere with the band and remained integral to 2008’s critically acclaimed These Are the Good Times People and Kudos to You!  In the fall of 2016, he dove headfirst into penning ideas for what would become the Andrew McKeag Band.

In order to capture this vision, McKeag enlisted the talents of drummer Charlie George and bassist John Krylow and recorded with producer Scott Hackwith [The Ramones] in downtown Los Angeles at Cassette Recordings. Immediately, they tapped into an indescribable and inimitable chemistry.

The album kicks off with a wiry riff from the album opener ”This Old Lie.”  “I wanted to start the record off with this,” says MCkeag, “because it’s where your head’s at when you’re trying to start over. That’s what I was writing about.”

Songs from the album sought inspiration from interesting places like  “Love & Respect,” whose clever intensity is drawn from Facebook rants by a fascinating character who McKeag  describes as “sitting in an apartment smoking weed and sharing videos of great punk and rock ‘n’ roll all day.”

McKeag enlisted a large group of A-list guests, that include  Zander Schloss [Circle Jerks/Joe Strummer/Thelonius Monster] who can be heard on “Ordinary Fool,” guitar legends—Brad Whitford of Aerosmith and Zakk Wylde of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society, and Zakk Sabbath, who are featured on a searing cover Mountain’s “Never In My Life,” and Ty Bailie [Katy Perry] provides keyboards throughout the album.

Pre-orders for The Andrew McKeag Band include a variety of packages offering CD’s, vinyl, t-shirts and signed merchandise, to some incredibly unique offerings from custom guitar pedals made for the AMB by Satellite Amps in San Diego, to private guitar lessons with Andrew, to a items from Andrew’s personal archive from his years with the Presidents Of The United States. DESI VALENTINE RELEASES  “MY WORST ENEMY” SINGLE  + ANNOUNCES TOUR DATES WITH VINTAGE TROUBLE

DESI VALENTINE RELEASES  “MY WORST ENEMY” SINGLE  + ANNOUNCES TOUR DATES WITH VINTAGE TROUBLE

DesiValentine_MyWorstEnemy_Artwork_.jpg

My Worst Enemy, a song by Desi Valentine on Spotify

"Both emotionally impassioned and irresistibly danceable, the London-born, LA transplant’s  new single 'My Worst Enemy' is a window into the tumultuous ups and downs of a rising artist." - Ones to Watch

Los Angeles based artist Desi Valentine  has released the stellar dance inducing “My Worst Enemy” single that that gives a stylistic wink to retro soul.  When going into the studio to collaborate with Morgan Taylor Reid on the song the two asked themselves “what would Nina Simone do in this day and age?” says Valentine.” A throwback sound like this is about picking the right elements, as less is more. We had the most fun tracking the vocals. I get to wail on this one! My hope is that people feel the emotion in the lyrics.”

Valentine  is a recording artist, singer, and songwriter with a modern mind and a timeless sound. Desi wears a balanced medley of enticing contradictions: he’s traditional, and he’s innovative. He’s peaceful, and he’s disruptive. He’s relatable to all, but comparable to none. His voice is both velvet and smoke.

“My Worst Enemy” was written about unrequited desire and what it’s like to feel like you don’t have control over yourself. The track was inspired by the time in Desi’s career where he had a song on the top of the digital charts but was struggling to make rent - and the juxtaposition of being at rock bottom while experiencing major success.  The song that catapulted Desi to the top of the digital charts  was “Fate Don’t Know You.” The song was featured in last years season finale on the hit show Suits on the USA Network, debuted on the Spotify Viral 50 chart in the UK, Canada, Australia, Sweden and the Netherlands. On Shazam the song debuted in the Top 20 on the Future Hits charts in the U.S., U.K. Australia and in the top 100 in the Global chart, and on iTunes the track debuted in the Top 100 in the UK.

Growing up in London, Desi honed his musical chops performing on the West End and working as a backup vocalist for Sir Elton John and Leona Lewis. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Desi dove deep into songwriting and his songs started to appear on notable film/TV programs such as Daredevil (Netflix),  Lucifer (FOX)  Queen Sugar (OWN) A Girlfriends Guide to Divorce (BRAVO), as well as advertising campaigns with FitBit, Toyota and NY&CO.  Despite becoming a master songwriter, it’s performing and connecting with a live audience that is Desi’s first true love. Desi has played festivals such as SXSW and Bumbershoot,  last year supported Andra Day on her U.S. tour and will be supporting Vintage Trouble in the U.S. this fall.

Anton Lavey Exhibit teaser done.jpg

Los Angeles, CA- Lethal Amounts  is proud to present the Anton LaVey Exhibition chronicling Dr. LaVey’s influence on American culture. LaVey, founded the Church of Satan in 1966 with a belief system between religion, philosophy, psychology, and carnival. At the core of the Church is Satan was the idea of vital existence; rejecting the idea of submission and restraint prevalent in Christian based faiths of the time.

The Church welcomed outsiders, the LGBT community,  non-conformists  and radical thinkers. The religion was designed for the intellectual elite, empowering the concept of self-acceptance and ridding the guilt of carnal delights. The message was “If you couldn’t enjoy the thrills of life, what is the point of life itself?”

The Satanic Bible, published in 1969, sent shockwaves across America cultural landscape,   challenging  traditional values, and  playing a role in the conclusion of the Summer of Love. By the time the book was published Dr. LaVey had built a loyal following,  including high profile celebrities like Sammy Davis Jr. and Jayne Mansfield, and from the media frenzy around his sensationalized weddings, funerals, and baptisms. LaVey passed to the other side on October 31, 1997. In the twenty years since his passing, the legend,  lore and work of Dr. LaVey continues to intrigue and inspire,  and his influence has remained prevalent throughout popular culture for generations.

To honor his legacy of challenging societal norms with theatrics and flare,  Lethal Amounts will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of  Dr. LaVey’s final curtain through a special event on October 31st at the Black Rabbit Rose/Madame Siam’s. The event will consist of an exhibition of items on loan from collectors around the world. NASHVILLE’S BOO RAY ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE  OF  SEA OF LIGHTS ON VINYL PARTNERSHIP WITH  KINDERCORE

NASHVILLE’S BOO RAY ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF SEA OF LIGHTS ON VINYL PARTNERSHIP WITH  KINDERCORE

BooRaySOLVinyl.jpg

“We want a bad-ass, rough-around-the-edges sound. And that is exactly what we get from said outlaw Boo Ray on his new record Sea of Lights. “  - No Depression

Nashville’s Boo Ray is excited to announce that his album Sea of Lights will be getting the royal wax treatment christening the Athens, GA based Kindercore pressing plant as it’s very first release on September 15th. Kindercore is a brand new pressing plant with a mission to modernize the current pressing process by making it more sustainable.

“I’ve had it on day and night, soaking up the electric guitar solos and Ray’s gritty, grinning vocal phrasing.” - Uproxx (on Sea of Lights)

The North Carolina born artist who spent years kicking around the southeastdecided to follow in the footsteps of other southern troubadour songwriters like Gram Parsons, Jerry Reed and Kris Kristofferson and head west. It was in Los Angeles where Ray sparked up a friendship and musical camaraderie with producer Noah Shain (Dead Sara, Escondido, Nikki Lane). The two collaborated on a few tracks that became Ray’s 2010 album, Bad News Travels Fast. For Sea of Lights, to capture the unassuming quality of Ray’s sophisticated songwriting the two embarked on the recording process at Shain’s White Buffalo studios in Los Angeles backed by an all star band that included Steve Ferrone on drums (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Paul Ill on bass (Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Hole etc.), Sol Philcox-Littlefield (Jim Lauderdale, Jake Owen, Aaron Lewis) on guitar, Dallas Kruse (Justin Grennan, Skylar Stonestreet) on Hammond B3, Smith Curry (Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Gibbons, Kid Rock) on pedal steel, and twin brothers Todd and Troy Gardner on backup vocals. The all-star line up recorded 10 songs in two days live to tape, using the  same 2inch tape machine used to record Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and several of Johnny Cash’s Nashville albums.

Most artists would cower under this type of pressure but Ray channeled that nervous energy into some of the best writing and recording of his career.

“As it is, “Sea Of Lights” is something special, a neatly constructed song with aspirational, but realistic lyrics about the vicissitudes of the artist’s life.”

LETTERS TO CLEO ANNOUNCE THE VINYL RELEASES OF AURORA GORY ALICE,  WHOLESALE MEATS AND FISH AND GO  + THREE NIGHTS  AT THE PARADISE

Nov. 2017 Paradise Residency copy.jpg

Boston’s Alt. Rock pioneers Letters to Cleo are excited to announce that their first three albums Aurora Gory AliceWholesale Meats and Fish and Go  will be available on vinyl for the first time ever. To celebrate the release of the vinyl the band will  be revisiting each of these albums from front to back  over a  three night run at The Paradise in Boston November 16-18th. Thursday November 16th they will be performing Aurora Gory Alice, Friday November 17th will be Wholesale Meats and Fish and Saturday November 18th will be Go. Blake Babies will be supporting on all three nights.  The vinyl is a limited edition pressing that will be available  exclusively at the three shows at the Paradise, on the Letters to Cleo website and at select Newbury Comic stores.

Ticket and vinyl packages will be available for pre-order on the Letters to Cleo website on Thursday (9/21). Single day and three day passes for the shows will be available on Ticketmaster.com on Friday 9/21 at 12pm EST.  “We have been hoping for a vinyl re-release of the Cleo catalog for years and with these albums having been made under an old record contract I wasn't confident it would ever happen,” says Michael Eisenstein. “Thanks to a lot of hard work, it's actually happening. We knew we wanted to do something special to commemorate this big 3 album vinyl re-release and when Greg (McKenna) suggested playing all three records in their entirety live, I shot it down right away. ‘It's too much work! You'll thank me later!’  The more he talked about it, the cooler the idea seemed. I'm pretty sure every song in our catalog has been performed live, but some only a few times and it's been 20 years or more.  It's an exciting challenge, that's for sure.”

Letters to Cleo formed in 1990 in Boston, lead by guitarist Greg Mckenna and singer Kay Hanley. The band came onto the National spotlight with the release of their first hit single "Here & Now,” released by Giant Records (a subsidiary of Warner Brothers Records). The song reached No. 10 on the Billboard Modern Rock Singles chart. The band’s music could be heard on many of the top TV shows and films throughout the 1990’s, including the cult classic 10 Things I Hate About You, where the band contributed 4 songs to the soundtrack and were feature in the film.  The band played their last show in 2000 and each of the members went on to have successful careers working in different areas of music from production, writing, performance, musical directing etc.

The original members reunited in the fall of 2016 for the release of the Back to Nebraska EP, their first new music from Letters to Cleo in seventeen years.  ABC News said “These five songs deliver exactly the kind of infectious power-pop that made them famous” and the Boston Globe said “It’s full of sweetly sour confections that recall the Alternative Nation era, like “Can’t Say,” which undercuts its sunshine-bright chorus with a growling bridge, and the brooding title track, which showcases lead singer Kay Hanley’s pensive side.”

In addition to performing the first three albums in full, the band will be playing fan favorites and new songs from Back to Nebraska.

ZAYDE WØLF WELCOMES YOU TO “THE JUNGLE”

ZAYDE WØLF WELCOMES YOU TO “THE JUNGLE”

zw_single_thejungle.jpg

The Jungle, a song by Zayde Wølf on Spotify

“ZAYDE is simply the dark rock child of Imagine Dragons and The Black Keys…”
- Ones to Watch

For his newest single “The Jungle” released on 8/25, ZAYDE WØLF mastermind Dustin Burnett channels the memories of the small town of Metropolis, Illinois where he grew up. The town is known as the “Superman Town,” and boasts a larger than life Superman statue in the town’s “Superman Square” paying tribute to the alter-ego of the town’s favorite fictional son Clark Kent.  The song reflects on the idea of this “super human” town, which in reality is a tiny river town that has become a shadow of its former self.

The song boasts of ZAYDE WØLF’s signature huge chorus’, driving drum beats with powerful lyrics about grit and survival that have lead to ZAYDE WØLF building an exceptionally loyal and enthusiastic fan base. ZAYDE WØLF receives regular messages and feedback from fans about the powerful and positive impact that his music has had on their lives. From fans who used his music in an anti-bullying film, to a Mother who’s autistic children found comfort in his music, to a 14 year old girl who always wanted to get into boxing but was intimidated by the gym. ZAYDE WØLF’s music was her main source of motivation, and she now attends regularly. The girl’s Mother has noted even noted the last  WØLF single, “Brave” as her main source of inspiration after losing a child and will now be walking out to the song when she herself goes to fight her first boxing match.

ZAYDE WØLF is the creation of Nashville based Billboard chart topping songwriter and two time Grammy nominated producer Dustin Burnett who started his music career as the frontman of The October. After years of touring Burnett decided to primarily focus on writing and producing. He found success working behind the scenes as a writer, producer and mixer working with artists such as Tyrone Wells, Us the Duo, Augustana, Dave Barnes and more.  He is also the co-founder of That Sound, a boutique drum sampling company that has become the go-to for songwriters, producers and mixers looking for unique drums sounds and samples.

At the end of 2015, he began working with the L.A.  based licensing company, Lyric House. The company sent him a custom opportunity to create a song for a movie trailer, and Burnett — unable to find someone else to sing on the track — decided to record his own vocals. The company loved the result. What had began as a movie trailer project expanded into something unique: a new musical project called ZAYDE WØLF, which combined Burnett's history as a producer with his talents as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.

To date ZAYDE WØLF’s music has been heard in hundreds of films, trailers, TV shows and commercials.  From shows like Younger, Wynonna EarpShamelessTeen Wolf, The Night Shift and Born This Way to trailers for Jack Reacher 2 Never Go Back, Gold, Rio I Love You, spots for UFC, the NFL, the NBA, Olympics and more.

7 COME 11 RELEASES “NOBODY WINS” SINGLE +  ANNOUNCE THE UNIVERSE OUT OF TIME EP  OUT SEPTEMBER 29 ON TALLEST MAN RECORDS

“...it's cool to see music we made 50 years ago inspiring a lot of young musicians...I'm glad they're listening....It's cool to see these young dudes take that inspiration and do their own thing....” - Art “Poppa Funk” Neville

The Bay Area’s Tallest Man Records is excited to announce the release of “Nobody Wins” the first track off the forthcoming EP Universe Out of Time from 7 Come 11 due out on September 29th.

From the forthcoming EP Universe Out of Time out 9.29.17 http://www.7come11.net https://www.facebook.com/7come11 https://twitter.com/7come11band https://www.instagram.com/7come11band https://www.youtube.com/7c11 https://soundcloud.com/7come11

7 Come 11 is the brainchild of San Francisco Bay Area based musician Gianni Staiano. The project was created with Staiano and his Hammond B3 as the focal point, which for this new EP has expanded to include a whammy clavinet, modified to Staiano’s specs by Ken Rich at Sound Services. The clav, with the whammy bar adds a level of heaviness to the 7 Come 11 sound, mimicking searing guitar like wails (all created by the clav) that are all over the EP. “I saw a Castlebar Clavinet on YouTube years ago and was blown away,” says Staiano. “Of course only like 7 were made back in the 70's and good luck finding one for sale. In the search though I found Ken Rich who had taken the initial concept which was fraught with design flaws and reimagined it. His creation changed my musical life. All of a sudden I could be super expressive with a keyboard instrument. Bending notes and playing the in between ones. Things I've been fantasizing about since childhood now suddenly at my fingertips. This was something I could man-handle and really feel the connection to the strings. It's like a whole new universe of expressive possibilities has been opened up to me. That's why I guess this is more of a rock album and way wilder sounding.”

“Nobody Wins”  was the very first song recorded with the whammy clav and is the most raw track on the album. The track is two takes pieced together, and was Staiano’s first real bonding moment with the whammy clav, where the instrument showed him what it was capable of, including making some decisions of its own.

The track opens with distorted vocals stating “We’re all the same people, We’re all the same race, If we don’t come together, Nobody wins.” This track was written in the fall of 2016 where the topics of immigration and race dominated the news feeds and stayed on the tip of the Nation’s tongue amidst the rise of Trump’s Nationalist movement. This tension can be felt in the heaviness of the song and the strain of the whammy bar bending the notes on the clavinet. In the wake of Charlottesville, the weight and depth of “Nobody Wins”  is more palpable now than ever.

This past year has seen Staiano share the stage with some of his musical heroes the funky METERS, and The Original Meters whom he has supported on numerous shows, including the Original Meters 50th anniversary show at the Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans during the New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival. He has also warmed up the rooms for dance inducing funk power houses Con Brio, Lettuce, and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk.

Staiano’s  forward thinking musical heroes, like the Meters,  have been the driving force for him to push the limits and boundaries of his sonic creativity— and more specifically, how he can merge his classically trained musical mind with new technology.  The result is a whiplash mélange of futuristic funk it that calls to mind  a sonic dance party with Herbie Hancock by way of Daft Punk.  This process has been a slow burn for Staiano, who attended the Berklee College of Music before studying jazz at San Diego State.  Although Staiano grew up removed from the world of dance, 7 Come 11’s music has developed into a sonic dance party. Staiano’s version of dance music comes from his intense study of  West African music. Staiano fell hard for dance music, while traveling the region to study with its most dedicated disciples, and now feels it as an essential part of his musical being. Staiano describes simply, that was he is making is music that he wants to dance to. With this new record and new instrumentation Staino dives even deeper into experimenting with technology and making music that moves him.

Staino will be taking 7 Come 11 out on the road this fall. Tour dates to be announced soon.
