COOPER AND GATLIN RELEASE A REMIX OF “LIKE YOU” IN COLLABORATION WITH FRANK POLE

Like You_remix_FINAL.jpg

Listen to “Like You (Frank Pole Remix)”: HERE

Los Angeles sibling duo Cooper & Gatlin have released a remix of their second single “Like You” in collaboration with electronic artist Frank Pole. Pole said of the track, “Remixing “Like You” was such a blast! Their voices blend together perfectly and I instantly fell in love with the record. This remix is one of my favorites so far, and I hope that everyone loves it the way I do.”

The original clever and catchy, “Like You,” was inspired by observing a rocky child-parent relationship, in which the roles were reversed and the child became the parent. Armed with a catchy hook and infectious production from Steve Solomon (who produced the James Arthur hit  “Say You Won’t Let Go” which has surpassed 1 Billion streams), Cooper & Gatlin delicately draw the listener into a serious subject matter using the power of a danceable beat.

“It’s hard to believe that ‘Like You’ is only the second single released by this duo. Most artists take a while to find their sound, but Cooper & Gatlin have got theirs down. They’ve found their voice. “Like You” is an upbeat anthem with a unique sound. The catchy beat, clever lyrics, and smooth vocals make for a perfect addition to all of your playlists.” –Affinity Magazine

Their incredible debut “Break” is an equally upbeat and relatable tune about the stoic face you put on in front of ex- lovers. It plays with the duality of looking unmoved before someone who has broken your heart. Upon its release, the track (which now has over 455K streams) was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday U.S. playlist and the video has now amassed over 615,000 plays. Ultra Records artist Tep No also produced a remix of the track that he also called “one of the best remixes I've made.”

“Cooper & Gatlin's latest video is simple but doesn't hold back on aesthetics. The all-too relatable lyrics and intricate acoustic guitar shine.”  – Popdust on “Break”

The duo’s seamless production blends elements of both acoustic and electronic music, creating a style all their own. They draw you in with their lush harmonies, tight melodies and playful brother-sister dynamic. They truly began to find their footing when the pair’s family relocated to Los Angeles in 2014 from their hometown of Franklin, Tennessee. They’ve spent the past several years honing their craft as songwriters and musicians by forging their wide array of influences together to create their own effortlessly gorgeous sound. Their new, left-of-center pop songs are fun and uplifting in delivery, but still deeply personal and relatable.

LETHAL AMOUNTS PRESENTS I AGAINST I: THE ART OF HR HUDSON & LORI HUDSON

LETHAL AMOUNTS PRESENTS

I AGAINST I

THE ART OF HR HUDSON & LORI HUDSON

lethal-amounts-hr-hudson.jpg

Los Angeles gallery Lethal Amounts is honored to announce i against i, an exhibition of new work from HR and Lori Hudson. Paul “HR” Hudson is best known as the frontman of the iconic punk band Bad Brains, formed in 1979. With unprecedented speed and precision, Bad Brains took the Washington, DC music scene by storm and quickly became one of the most influential bands of all time, breaking down cultural barriers and creating emotionally charged music centered on the message of maintaining a positive mental attitude (PMA).

“HR and Bad Brains to me represent fearlessness and going with your gut,” says Lethal Amounts owner and Creative Director Danny Fuentes. “The first time I put on their first album I could sense them putting their heart and soul into their art. The ferocity coming through the speakers made your blood pump and made it an almost religious experience. You wanted to feel what they were feeling and believe in something as much as they do. This is the exact feeling I am trying replicate with the shows we produce at Lethal Amounts. You can’t ignore things that come across so sincere and make you aspire to be better than anything you ever imagined.”

HR  currently performs with Philadelphia musicians Ezekiel Zagar (original McRad) and Josh Freshy as HR & Human Rights, and is currently working on a solo album. In addition to Human Rights,  HR has been in the studio working with Ty Dolla $ign and Vic Mensa.

“HR is by far one of the greatest artists, writers, and musicians of all time, to say the least. I grew up listening to Bad Brains and play their music before every show of mine to this day. I love how HR was always saying what needed to be heard in his lyrics. He stood for something at all times and was always growing to be a better person while bringing his fans along for the ride.” – Ty Dolla $ign

Lori Carns Hudson is a contemporary artist working mostly in acrylic, incorporating smooth textures and a combination of painterly and true to life details, often exposing herself through self-portraits, her work is about connection and loss. In it, she shares where she feels pain and where she finds healing.

Lori and HR met in Baltimore in 2001  where they began to form a friendship. That friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship and the two were married in October of 2012. Throughout the early years of their friendship and marriage, Lori played the role of wife and caregiver addressing HR’s mental health and his worsening headaches. After much trial and error HR was diagnosed with  SUNCT (Short-lasting Unilateral Neuralgiform headache attacks with Conjunctival injection and Tearing), also nicknamed “Suicide Syndrome.” HR underwent brain surgery in 2017 to relieve the headaches. He made a full recovery and continues to live most free from his crippling headaches, allowing him the time and space to work on his music, art, and marriage.

The exhibit is a collaborative effort in both inspiration and execution by HR and Lori.  The private show opening, for which both artists will be in attendance, will be held on June 1st at 8 pm at the Lethal Amounts gallery. To attend the event reply here or rsvp to rsvp@sideways-media.com.

BLIND OWL RECORDS ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF SATURDAY NIGHT SAGE BY AUTHOR NOAH C. LEKAS OUT APRIL 13TH

SaturdayNightSage_PR_Sample.jpg

San Diego’s Blind Owl Records is excited to announce their very first literary release, a stunning book of poetry and narrative prose called Saturday Night Sage,  from riveting fresh new voice, Noah Lekas. The physical book is currently available for pre-order (HERE), along with a a limited edition exclusive package that includes the book and 18x24 silk screen print of the cover and will be released in select book stores and through the Blind Owl website on April 13th.

The collection tackles mysticism, menial labor and self-medication. In the title piece, Saturday Night Sage, the sage navigates whiskey-soaked revelations with religion, folklore and dwindling opportunity. He wades through Eastern philosophy, Western theology and the American highways and factories of the Midwest in search of purpose and resolve. More than just bar room tales of flagrant dispossession, Saturday Night Sage emerges from the shadows of crumbling factory-life; giving voice to an often-undervalued American story. It bets-it-all that a Blue-Collar work ethic is all you need to get out of the dreary repetition of Saturday Night.

The book has early champions, that include world renown graphic artist Alan Forbes (Faith No More, Queens of the Stone Age, The Melvins, Mudhoney etc.),  who created the book’s cover art. In addition to Forbes, the pieces in Saturday Night Sage have moved a number of musicians and filmmakers to create audio and visual pieces inspired by poems from the book that will be released over the next month. The artists contributing  pieces include Shelby Baldock (Director North Mississippi All-Stars, Pianoman Pictures, Memphis, TN) , Scott Rosenbaum (Director/Red Hawk FIlm, New York, NY), Joshua Zimmerman (Director/The Silent Comedy, New York, NY), Jeremiah Zimmerman (Director/The Silent Comedy, San Diego, CA),   Blake Cook (Visual Artist, Cleveland, OH), with music composed by Dan Cervantes (Howlin Rain), Mrs. Henry, Chad Lee (the Silent Comedy) and more.

Saturday Night Sage is Lekas’ debut book release.  It was The Exterminator by William Burroughs and Hot Water Music by Charles Bukowski, that lit the fire in Lekas to pursue his creative passions.  Lekas found Burroughs through a recording of The ‘Priest’ They Called Him that he did with Kurt Cobain, and Bukowski through the band, Hot Water Music. Since then, for Lekas, music, and literature have been inseparable. After calling all four corners of the country home, his work is as uniquely American as his perspective, giving voice to an often overlooked and undervalued, working-class experience. Hailed as “A punk séance for the beat spirit,” Saturday Night Sage weaves the unwavering ethos of post-industrial Wisconsin with the poetic tradition of New York City and the eccentric Rock ‘n’ Roll soul of San Francisco.

GREG HOLDEN RELEASES “I’M NOT YOUR ENEMY” FEATURING GARRISON STARR FROM UPCOMING ALBUM WORLD WAR ME

WORLD WAR ME.png

LISTEN TO “I’M NOT YOUR ENEMY”: HERE

“A stirring new track.” - Variance Magazine

Greg Holden has released, “I’m Not Your Enemy” the latest single from his 4th studio album, World War Me,  coming out March 29th with BMG Recordings.

“‘I’m Not Your Enemy” was written with and features singer-songwriter Garrison Starr. The two, who also happen to be great friends, co-wrote five of the nine on songs that make up World War Me. The ideas for the album started to formulate “during my Great Existential Crisis of 2016, and the songs were written during the ongoing Existential Crises of 2017 & 2018” says Holden. At the time, the country was and still is, experiencing an unprecedented level of cultural and ideological divisiveness.  In addition to cultural tension, Holden went through a personal transformation that found him “quite literally at war” with himself. He had moved his entire life across the country for his label/career and upon arrival on the west coast, he was dropped by his longtime label partner. These changes prompted a tidal wave of self-doubt, where Holden found himself questioning his worth as an artist,  and the validity of his voice and perspective as a straight white man.

The self-doubt led Greg into the black abyss of the internet, where he did what any public figure questioning their worth would do, he started to Google himself. This search led to the discovery that his biggest success came from songs that were written with the intention of, and for organizations looking to lift people up.  His song ”The Lost Boy” (9 Million + streams on Spotify) raised $80,000 for The Red Cross and helped build schools in Africa. “Boys in the Street” (18 + million streams on Spotify) was written for Everyone Is Gay, an organization supporting the LGBTQ youth community, and “Home,” made famous by American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, has been used by countless organizations.

“I’m Not Your Enemy” was the first song written for the album. Holden was on tour in Europe with Starr in the fall of 2016, right in the middle of the 2016 presidential election. In the days following the election Starr who is a lesbian, and Holden who is an immigrant, felt on edge, ostracized and abandoned by the country they called home.  Instead of responding with fear or anger they wrote a beautifully compassionate song called “I’m Not Your Enemy,” one hungover morning and performed it that night to an arena of 10,000 people. The beauty in the song is its honest simplicity, driven by an acoustic guitar and the raw and moving vocals of Holden and Starr, emoting lyrics like “You might not recognize me from before the war began. How could you know after everything they told you, that I’m not your enemy, I’m not your enemy, only love can save us now.”

Holden sets off on his  #WorldTourMe tour that will take him through the  U.S. and Europe this Spring. See the full list of dates HERE.

THE MOWGLI’S RELEASE AMERICAN FEELINGS EP

American Feelings EP.jpg

LISTEN TO AMERICAN FEELINGS: HERE

[A] richly textured and rhythmic track…”

Billboard on “Norman Rockwell”

Southern California’s torchbearers of alt. rock positivity, The Mowgli’s have released their new EP American Feelings. The first three singles “Hard to Love,” “Mr. Telephone” and “Norman Rockwell” that have been released have received incredible feedback from fans and critics alike, and have garnered over 600K streams.

“‘Hard To Love”’ makes you want to dance to the lively rhythm despite the vocalists’ words about being “a little bit hard to love.” - Alternative Press

“The Mowgli’s build a case against mediocrity by mourning complacency. They depict an average American, craving so much more than what a day-in-the-life has to offer.” –Heart Eyes Magazine

"I can't thank @Themowglis enough for creating music that is so pure and honest to what its like living in the world today.  #NormanRockwell” - Anthony Scardina via Twitter

From their beginning as a music collective in Venice Beach, California, The Mowgli’s have been writing songs of love, unity, and togetherness. Their break out hit “San Francisco” brought them national attention and cemented the band as indie-rockers with purpose and a message. Two subsequent albums and an independent EP have captured an ever-growing fanbase drawn to their feel-good anthems. As they’ve grown, the group has balanced their positive music with songs that give a window into the trials of a working band: Juggling relationships, friendships and adulthood with the rigors of constant touring. With American Feelings, The Mowgli’s have, perhaps surprisingly, found greater bonds than ever before: If nothing else, the path is shared and those sharing it have an intimate knowledge of what the journey feels like.

"I’m totally not crying. Feeling this song so much right now. Proud of you all! Homies, go listen to their new song! It’s so good! ❤️ @Themowglis - Norman Rockwell.” - Kaylynn Michelle via Twitter

“we need to talk about it...it being the  newest @Themowglis song... i'm in love.”  - Kayla Jonas via Twitter

The theme of connection and the lack thereof in our modern world is woven throughout the four songs that make up American Feelings. They all touch on the lack of discourse and engagement prevalent in society today, especially with technology serving as both a facilitator and barrier. “Mr. Telephone” serves up social commentary on our relationships with devices, over a subtly hypnotic, yet infectious melody.  “Norman Rockwell” sees the band take a more maudlin melodic turn with the song's protagonist painting himself into a new world in his mind to escape the monotony of his current life. “Hard to Love,” the very first single from the EP, confronts the complicated idea of self-acceptance, over the bands signature sweeping melodies.  Rounding out the EP is “Talk About It,” a bouncing track about forgiveness and communicating through difficult situations.

“The EP slides into a hypnotic space with alt-rock head bobber with “Mr. Telephone”. “Norman Rockwell”, a hazy and laid-back song finds it’s lyrical roots in every youth’s disenfranchised America; and stomping, rolling rocker “Talk About It” snaps the EP closed succinctly.” - AMFM Magazine

“the new @Themowglis EP has my newest favorite songs, there's something to connect to in the lyrics of every one and they're all beautiful and catchy as HELL.”

- Joey via Twitter

The Mowgli’s - who began as a 10+ member group playing house parties and warehouse gatherings - is now comprised of singer/guitarists Colin Dieden & Josh Hogan, singer Katie Jayne Earl, drummer Andy Warren, keys player David Appelbaum and Matt Di Panni on bass. The release of their first major-label LP Waiting For The Dawn in 2013 saw immediate success with the hit single “San Francisco” and the band quickly found themselves playing to sold out crowds in clubs around the U.S. and inundated by requests for press, sponsorships and partnerships. The band’s music has accumulated 250 Million streams and counting, and they’ve graced the stages of major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, ACL, Firefly, Osheaga, Arroyo Seco, BottleRock, Bumbershoot and more. They’ve worked with major international brands such as Spotify, Abercrombie, Levi’s, GM, Dunkin’ Donuts, VW and Verizon and continue to spread their message of positivity not only through their music but through their work with charities such as Heal The Bay, Happy Bottoms and the International Rescue Committee. The Mowgli’s will be playing songs from American Feelings on their co-headlining tour with Jukebox the Ghost this month.

THE MOWGLI’S RELEASE “MR. TELEPHONE” SINGLE FROM AMERICAN FEELINGS EP DUE OUT MARCH 1

Mr. Telephone.jpg

California alt. rockers The Mowgli’s have released “Mr. Telephone,” the second single from their forthcoming EP American Feelings out March 1. The four songs that make up American Feelings all harken to the lack of discourse and engagement prevalent in society today, especially with technology serving as both a facilitator and barrier.

“Mr. Telephone” was written from observing the feelings of isolation, anxiety and the lack of connection in fans, friends, family and society as a whole, much of it fueled by technology. “With social media creating transparency, we can see so much more,” says Josh Hogan.  “We’re all so available & we get answers in a matter of seconds. Some of us thrive in this environment, and some just can’t seem to cope.” The pointed social commentary is delivered through a subtle hypnotic melody and sweeping infectious choruses that have become the band’s signature.

“We are all Mr. Telephone,” says Katie Earl  “seeking answers from a device in the palm of our hands, but after all is said and done, how much more connected are we? How much can we gain from spending time inside our phones, and how much do we lose? There is a lot of love and knowledge and connection outside of our little boxes, and finding a balance is more crucial than ever before.”

COOPER & GATLIN RELEASE THEIR CATCHY AND CLEVER SECOND SINGLE "LIKE YOU"

COOPER & GATLIN RELEASE THEIR CATCHY AND CLEVER SECOND SINGLE “LIKE YOU”

Like You_cover-FINAL (1).jpg

Up and coming brother-sister indie pop duo Cooper & Gatlin have released their second single “Like You” everywhere today. “Like You” was inspired by observing a rocky child-parent relationship, in which the roles were reversed and the child became the parent, losing out on having an actual childhood. Armed with a catchy hook and infectious production from Steve Solomon, who produced the James Arthur hit  “Say You Won’t Let Go” which has surpassed 1 Billion streams, Cooper & Gatlin delicately draw the listener into serious subject matter using the power of a danceable beat.

Their debut single “Break” is an equally catchy and relatable tune about the stoic face you put on in front of ex- lovers. It plays with the duality of looking alright before someone who has broken your heart. Upon its release the track was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday U.S. playlist and the video has now amassed over 612,000 plays. Ultra Records artist Tep No also produced a remix of the track that he even called “one of the best remixes I've made.”

“Cooper & Gatlin's latest video is simple but doesn't hold back on aesthetics. The all-too relatable lyrics and intricate acoustic guitar shine.”  – Popdust

The true brilliance of this duo lies in their ability to blend elements of both acoustic and electronic music so seamlessly. They draw you in with their lush harmonies, tight melodies and playful brother-sister dynamic. They really found their sound when the pair’s family relocated to Los Angeles in 2014 from their hometown of Franklin, Tennessee. They’ve spent the past several years honing their craft as songwriters and musicians by forging their wide array of influences together to create a sound uniquely their own. They recently wrote a batch of new left-of-center pop songs that are fun and uplifting in delivery, but still deeply personal and relatable.

“The duo came in fast and hot, bursting onto the pop scene with a woozy neon anthem for the broken-hearted, garnering over half a million views since its release.”  –The Music Mermaid

THE MOWGLI'S RELEASE “HARD TO LOVE” SINGLE FROM AMERICAN FEELINGS EP OUT MARCH 1

THE MOWGLI’S RELEASE “HARD TO LOVE” SINGLE FROM AMERICAN FEELINGS EP DUE OUT MARCH 1

Hard To Love.jpg

Alternative Rock’s positivity torchbearers The Mowgli’s have released the effervescent first single “Hard to Love,” from their forthcoming EP American Feelings out March 1. The song - and the EP in general - hit on themes of human connection in a world that is simultaneously more interconnected and fragmented daily.

Since their early days as a 10+ member collective in Venice Beach, California The Mowgli’s have been writing songs that ooze and illicit joy, including their break out hit “San Francisco,” that brought them national attention and cemented the band as indie-rockers with purpose and a message. Two subsequent albums and an independent EP have captured an ever-growing fanbase drawn to their feel-good anthems. As the band has grown as individuals they’ve found a balance of mixing their uplifting writing with songs that give insight into the trials of a working band, as well as growing up in general. This was captured perfectly in their anthemic hit  “Kansas City” from 2018’s I Was Starting To Wonder EP.

The new record shifts gears, focusing on what it’s like to be a young person in America. It speaks to insecurities, relationships, communication both synthetic and genuine, and the lack thereof. “‘Hard To Love’ is about struggling with the feeling of being complicated when people just want things to be easy,” says Colin Dieden.  “Learning to let go of the guilt and accept the complexities about yourself that make you who you are, no matter how difficult. It is a song about love and a song about refusing to settle.”

“HARD TO LOVE” : WATCH

“Being a person is hard, and we’re all just trying to be people here,” adds Josh Hogan. “American Feelings honors that - it’s a well-rounded taste of us, The Mowgli’s.  It’s our best work yet, and we’re extremely proud of it. “

The band, slightly smaller than their inception is now comprised of singer/guitarists Colin Dieden & Josh Hogan, singer Katie Jayne Earl, drummer Andy Warren, keys player David Appelbaum and Matt Di Panni on bass.

The Mowgli’s will be playing songs from American Feelings live this winter on a co-headlining tour with Jukebox the Ghost. See the full list of tour dates HERE.

KEZAR RELEASES THEIR DEBUT SINGLE "(TELL ME) IT'S NOT LOVE"

KEZAR RELEASES THEIR DEBUT SINGLE “(TELL ME) IT’S NOT LOVE”

TMINL.jpg

Kezar has released their debut single “(Tell Me) It’s Not Love” out everywhere today. Kezar is a brand new project from seasoned musician Jack Mosbacher and drummer James Small (Fantastic Negrito). With this project, Mosbacher tapped into his affinity for infectious, previously unexplored beats.

“(Tell Me) It’s Not Love,” [is] an unmistakably radio-ready pop bop. Blending soulful vocals with a dazzling array of modern indie-pop elements, it’s an electric debut destined for major attention. We’re seeing KEZAR in bright lights on famous marquees. We’re hearing his neon anthems on Top 40. We’re thinking he just carved himself a well-deserved spot in the wild world of pop stardom.”  The Music Mermaid

After working with producer Nitzan Kaikov (Keith Urban, Justin Timberlake), what resulted is a danceable earworm packed with joy and romance. Boasting a wide array of sounds, Mosbacher incorporated stacked vocals and bass synthesizers on top of his more rock-leaning influences. Mosbacher described the track as “a song about those special moments that only happen once or twice a lifetime: when you meet somebody and immediately know that this person is going to change your life forever.”

When choosing a moniker for the project, Mosbacher wanted to stay true to his hometown of San Francisco by naming it after Kezar Stadium in the Haight-Ashbury district. Choosing the original home of the 49ers and a now music venue that played host to music legends such as Led Zeppelin, Santana and The Grateful Dead, seemed like the perfect segway into a new chapter in his career while staying true to his roots. While soul will always be the backbone of Kezar’s music, Mosbacher also draws inspiration from contemporary pop artists like Shawn Mendes, Bruno Mars and Sam Smith. Partnering with Small on this new project created the perfect marriage of Mosbacher’s sunny San Francisco pop style with Small’s heavier-hitting Oakland R&B.

MOTHER WEST RELEASES THE SOUNDTRACK FOR 'ALL THESE SMALL MOMENTS'

MOTHER WEST RELEASES THE SOUNDTRACK FOR

ALL THESE SMALL MOMENTS

ATSM-FINAL ART_ALBUM COVER_crop main.jpg

Mother West has released the soundtrack to the highly buzzed about indie film All These Small Moments out today on all digital platforms.

When embarking on the soundtrack for her debut film, Melissa B. Miller-Costanzo plucked Dan Lipton from the theater world (conductor of The Band’s Visit and The Last Ship by Sting on Broadway) to compose an original score that would breathe additional life into the characters. Shortly after, she recruited music producer Charles Newman (The Magnetic Fields, The Bones of J.R Jones) to handle the music supervision and help find the perfect source music to not only compliment the story but help shape it.  What ensued was a partnership between Miller and Newman, taking them on a collaborative journey of the senses. With Newman taking on the music editor duties as well, the two cut their way through an array of musical options to align with the tone of Lipton’s developing score, while keeping a cohesive sound between the intertwining score cues and song choices they were narrowing down. What resulted was an indie pop rock retro-americana mashup, with a dash of ‘80s and shoegaze thrown in for good measure.

Featured tracks include the film’s musical centerpiece and theme song “My Love Will Bring You Back” that was written and recorded by Slow Runner, featuring Michael Flynn. The song’s music video even incorporates a performance by stars of the film Molly Ringwald and Brian d’Arcy James that Parade Magazine called “a sweet, touching, delicate and heartfelt rendition.” The score and accompanying tracks organically compliment the tale and shape it by closely weaving the music into the fabric of each scene. Miller-Costanzo wanted every song to take the viewer back to a place where they felt something real. Other featured tracks include Vermont troubadour Kris’s Gruen’s “Coming Down Around Me” which was co-penned by Miller-Costanzo after Newman tasked Gruen with writing a song to fit one of the scenes. Miller-Costanzo helped complete the chorus lyrics that enter at a key moment in the story, creating one of the peak marriages of song to picture in the film.

“Not all the storylines connect directly, but there’s a connecting theme. It’s really what the title says: It’s all these small moments that make up a life. It’s all the minutiae. To me, it’s very much like real life.” - Molly Ringwald as told to Entertainment Weekly

The coming-of-age drama is about a teenage boy's infatuation with a woman he sees on the bus that further complicates his already tumultuous adolescence. While he navigates life at home and his parents’ crumbling marriage, he pursues the woman. Other stars of this film include Jemima Kirke, Brendan Meyer, Sam McCarthy and Harley Quinn Smith. The film was released in theaters nationwide on January 17th and is available today on demand on digital platforms including Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, Xbox, Cox (Cable VOD), Comcast (Cable VOD), Spectrum (Cable VOD), Verizon (Cable VOD) and DirecTV (Cable VOD).

THE MOWGLI'S ANNOUNCE THE NEW EP 'AMERICAN FEELINGS' + NATIONWIDE TOUR WITH JUKEBOX THE GHOST

THE MOWGLI’S ANNOUNCE THE NEW EP AMERICAN FEELINGS & NATIONWIDE TOUR WITH JUKEBOX THE GHOST

AF EP.jpg

The Mowgli’s will be releasing a new four song EP American Feelings on March 1st followed by a co-headlining nationwide tour with Jukebox the Ghost.

From their beginning as a music collective in Venice Beach, California The Mowgli’s have been writing songs of love, unity and togetherness. Their break out hit “San Francisco” brought them national attention and cemented the band as an indie-rockers with purpose and a message. Two subsequent albums and an independent EP have captured an ever growing fanbase drawn to their feel-good anthems.

As they’ve grown, the group has balanced their positive music with songs that give a window into the trials of a working band: Juggling relationships, friendships and adulthood with the rigors of constant touring. This was most apparent in their currently highest-streaming single “Kansas City”, released last year. Now presenting their second self-controlled EP American Feelings, The Mowgli’s have, perhaps surprisingly, found greater bonds than ever before: If nothing else, the path is shared and those sharing it have an intimate knowledge of what the journey feels like.  “This EP speaks to the youth of America,” says Josh Hogan (guitar/vocals). “Being a person is hard, and we’re all just trying to be people here. American Feelings  is a well rounded taste of The Mowgli’s.  It’s our best work yet, and we’re extremely proud of it. “

This theme of connection is woven throughout the EP, starting with the anthemic pop song “Hard to Love” that pays homage to the daunting task of taking a good hard look at yourself in the mirror, owning up to who you are all while dancing your way through it, to the spacey and hypnotic  “Mr. Telephone” that examines our culture’s obsession with gadgets and synthetic connectivity. “We are all Mr. Telephone,” says Katie Earl, “seeking answers from a device in the palm of our hands, but after all is said and done, how much more connected are we? How much can we gain from spending time inside our phones, and how much do we lose? There is a lot of love and knowledge and connection outside of our little boxes, and finding a balance is more crucial than ever before.”  The EP is rounded out by the laid-back song “Norman Rockwell” that finds its lyrical roots in every youth’s disenfranchised America, and a stomping rocker “Talk About It,” that is about forgiveness and talking your way through difficult situations. “Communication is a very powerful tool,” says Hogan. “If we could learn to communicate in a healthy way, this place would be much less divided.”

The Mowgli’s will be playing songs from American Feelings live this winter on a co-headlining tour with Jukebox the Ghost.

COOPER & GATLIN RELEASE A CHARMING RENDITION OF "WONDERFUL CHRISTMASTIME"

COOPER & GATLIN RELEASE A CHARMING RENDITION OF “WONDERFUL CHRISTMASTIME”

cooper-gatlin-wonderful-christmastime.jpg

Los Angeles brother-sister pop duo Cooper & Gatlin have released a charming rendition of the holiday tune “Wonderful Christmastime.” To go along with it, the two have released a fun video (here) with their friends and family channeling the true spirit of the season. The pair said of the song, “We chose ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ because we wanted to do something other than one of the big Christmas staples. Plus, we both love the Beatles, so we thought doing a song that Paul McCartney wrote would be a lot of fun.”

Just last week, the two also released a remix of their debut single “Break” in collaboration with Ultra Records artist Tep No who called it “one of the best remixes he has ever made.” “Break” is a catchy and relatable tune about the stoic face you put on in front of ex- lovers. It’s an anthem about looking alright before someone who has broken your heart. Upon its release the track was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday U.S. playlist and the video has amassed over 530,000 plays.

“Cooper & Gatlin's latest video is simple but doesn't hold back on aesthetics. The all-too relatable lyrics and intricate acoustic guitar shine.”  Popdust

The pair draw you in with their lush harmonies, tight melodies and playful brother-sister dynamic. Originally from Franklin, Tennessee, the family relocated to Los Angeles in 2014 and the two have spent the past several years since honing their craft as songwriters and musicians. By forging their inspirations, the duo recently wrote a batch of new left-of-center pop songs that are fun and uplifting in delivery, but still deeply personal and relatable. This time of year is very special to them as it’s all about spending time with loved ones, making memories, traveling and spreading joy through music. They hope to bring fun, happiness and warmth to everyone’s ears this holiday season with this track.

“Their sound is mature and feels advanced in their years as a duo. Cooper and Gatlin could easily be on the radio and jump into mainstream music.” - Veracious Magazine

JACK MOSBACHER RELEASES A POIGNANT EP OF HOLIDAY CLASSICS CALLED 'CHRISTMAS IN CALIFORNIA'

JACK MOSBACHER RELEASES A POIGNANT EP OF HOLIDAY CLASSICS

CHRISTMAS IN CALIFORNIA

jack-mosbacher-christmas-in-ca.jpg

This holiday season, San Francisco-based retro pop and soul singer Jack Mosbacher has released a tender EP of classic Christmas tunes. Titled Christmas in California, this EP features Jack’s soulful, heartwarming take on songs like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “White Christmas.”

With his own added California sunshine, Mosbacher said of the EP, "This time of year, I feel particularly grateful for family, friends and music. I hope you will listen to it with the people you love - and that you have as much fun listening to it as I had making it."

“His radiant sound has evolved to exude the old school power of Alabama Shakes and Leon Bridges, with the pop sensibility of Andy Grammer and Ed Sheeran. Today, Mr. Mosbacher aims to add happy elements to the next generation of soul.” Pop Dose

Mosbacher is also no stranger to creating an EP of stunning covers. Earlier this summer, he released a phenomenal tribute to David Ruffin called WhyNot (after Ruffin’s hometown of Whynot, Mississippi), which All Access deemed “incredible.” When the opportunity arose, Mosbacher couldn’t resist the chance to honor his late idol’s previously unreleased solo work, and in collaboration with Michael Eisenstein and an eclectic array of musicians, covered four of Ruffin’s songs in a classic Motown session style: all of the instruments in one room, making music until they got it right.

Mosbacher’s original music has also become known for its thoughtfully crafted traditional hooks and cheerful Motown vibes. His sound has drawn comparisons to artists like The Temptations, Hall and Oates and even Otis Redding. He revives the best of past eras with warmth and modern charisma for a sound that’s both timeless and extremely accessible. In a world of confusion, chaos and division, he is determined to make music that resonates with everyone on some level. He feels that his highest creative purpose is to share joy with others through his music, channeling the great Motown, blues and soul singers he first listened to as a child.  He’s delighted to share this lovely holiday EP with the world in the hopes that it brings genuine joy to anyone who listens, a sentiment he relays in all his music.

Mosbacher will also begin a residency at San Francisco’s the Black Cat later next month, a perfect fit for his distinct style of retro pop and just in time for the holidays.

COOPER & GATLIN RELEASE A REMIX OF THEIR DEBUT SINGLE "BREAK" IN COLLABORATION WITH TEP NO

COOPER & GATLIN RELEASE A REMIX OF THEIR DEBUT SINGLE “BREAK” IN COLLABORATION WITH TEP NO

cooper-gatlin-tep-no-remix.jpg

Brother-sister pop duo Cooper & Gatlin have released a remix of their debut single “Break” done by Ultra Records artist Tep No. "The song was already amazing,” says Tep No. “I decided to completely change the instrumental to give it a more guitar-oriented feel. I recorded a bunch of guitars for it and it's one of the best remixes I've made, the drop is insane."

The original “Break” is a catchy and relatable tune about the stoic face you put on in front of ex- lovers. It plays with the duality of looking alright before someone who has broken your heart. Upon its release the track was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and the video has amassed over 530,000 plays.

“Cooper & Gatlin's latest video is simple but doesn't hold back on aesthetics. The all-too relatable lyrics and intricate acoustic guitar shine.”  Popdust

The duo likes to describe their sound as acoustic-meets-electronic. Finding inspiration from artists like Broods and Kevin Garrett, they draw you in with their lush harmonies, tight melodies and playful brother-sister dynamic. Originally from Franklin, Tennessee, the family relocated to Los Angeles in 2014 and the two have spent the past several years honing their craft as songwriters and musicians. By forging their inspirations, the duo recently wrote a batch of new left-of-center pop songs that are fun and uplifting in delivery, but still deeply personal and relatable.

“The duo came in fast and hot, bursting onto the pop scene with a woozy neon anthem for the broken-hearted, garnering over half a million views since its release.”  The Music Mermaid

Although putting their debut into someone else’s hands was nerve-racking, they couldn’t be happier with the results. “Tep No is amazing and absolutely killed it. We love hearing the melody and lyrics over a new chord progression. Also, the fact that the DJ remix is still guitar-based is a really nice touch. It feels like a completely new song, yet keeps the spirit of the original,” they said.

“Their sound is mature and feels advanced in their years as a duo. Cooper and Gatlin could easily be on the radio and jump into mainstream music.” - Veracious Magazine

LAURA ESCUDÉ RELEASES THE NEW EP 'TRANSMUTE'

LAURA ESCUDÉ RELEASES THE NEW EP TRANSMUTE

Laura Escudé’s journey comes full circle with the release of Transmute, the four song EP that documents Escudé’s  intimate journey into finding her own voice. Transmute is out today worldwide on all major digital retailers and streaming services.

“....she is crafting her own unique blend of electronica and classical music which she calls “future classical” - Earmilk

Laura Escudé is the epitome of an innovator. She is an artist, a producer, a CEO and the world’s most in demand controllerist and live show designer. She possesses a deep understanding of complex technology, a passion for music and art and a unique talent for fusing the two.  She was the world's very first certified Ableton expert and trainer. Her work with Ableton has led to her to working with artists like Logic, Miguel, Kanye West, Jay Z, Porter Robinson, Herbie Hancock, Charli XCX, Drake, Bon Iver and more. The demand for her work and time led to her starting her company Electronic Creatives - of which she is the CEO. Electronic Creatives is made up a team of top tier programmers, hired and trained by Escudé to serve the company’s  A-List client roster which now includes The Weeknd, Harry Styles,Camila Cabello, Vic Mensa, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Iggy Azalea, Garbage, Charli XCX, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Selena Gomez and more.

Escudé has previously recorded and released music under the Alluxe moniker, and the Transmute EP is the very first body of work she is releasing under her name. In addition to her own work she has been commissioned for remixes by artists such as M83, Polica and Mr. Hudson. Her violin playing can be heard on “Watch the Throne,” on Hit-Boy’s mixtape, Big Grams, Kanye’s Dark Fantasy Tour. This new music retains her signature sound, a unique and intricate blend of classical and electronic music, and showcases her mastery in both worlds, as classically trained violinist and master technologist.

“In order to really understand the complexities and genuine music crafting that she is doing, you’ll have to immerse yourself into her work.” - Noisey

Transmute starts off with  “Control,” released as a single earlier this fall. The song examines the turmoil Escudé experienced of trying to control every aspect of her multifaceted life. To remain in control created stress and sickness, giving up control meant chaos. With the title of one of the world’s most in-demand live show designers Escudé was always on edge about doing and achieving more. It is when she surrendered control  that she started to make a shift away from things - relationships, substances, obligations – that didn’t serve her.

The EP’s powerful title track features pounding percussion and Escudé’s ethereal vocals and lyrics like “Don’t hold me down, it’s all in my head,” that she repeats realizing  her fears of not reaching her potential is what was holding her back from making her dreams a reality. The third track “Awaken” is Escudé not only realizing but embracing her new found freedom away from the mental roadblocks that had been hindering her from being her best self.  Her fears of regret and unlived potential are now in the past and Escudè learned to express the emotions she had long repressed while trying to fit into the hyper-masculine music industry. She has found a balance between the masculine dedication to duty and the feminine ability to simply be present. Transmute is a declaration of everything previously unexpressed. The screaming thoughts that once tormented her are here finally expressed with courage and grace.

Throughout her entire career Escudé has been deeply dedicated to education and to teaching her craft to up and coming artists and producers, especially to women who are very underrepresented in the production space. She is a frequent guest lecturer at conferences and major universities all over the world. This fall alone she was a featured speaker at the Ableton Loop conference (see her Ableton ONE Series HERE), was a featured mentor for Red Bull’s Hack the Hits program, Spotify’s CO.LAB Series and the Berklee School of Music’s Signature Series. She also announce early enrollment for the “TRANSMUTE” online course, which is made up of curriculum she has been for over a year.  TRANSMUTE is the 8 week online accelerator for artists experienced in Ableton Live who are ready to transform their live performance. It was designed to empower artists to be in total control of their live show. The course not only leads artists through interactive modules on how to become self-reliant, but teaches them how to leverage a niche community for continuous growth and how to embrace a new-found creative process led by Ableton's first Certified Trainer Laura Escudé.

“Part of Escudé’s goal with Transmute is to make the art of live programming more accessible for musicians from all walks of life -- especially women, who remain underrepresented in the industry.” - Billboard

BRANDY ZDAN RELEASES A DYNAMIC LIVE VERSION OF HER TRACK "WILD FIRE"

BRANDY ZDAN RELEASES A DYNAMIC LIVE VERSION OF HER TRACK “WILD FIRE”

FROM HER SOPHOMORE RECORD SECRETEAR

“The song begins with a load of fuzzy guitar courtesy of Zdan before the singer lets her vocals command the music, like the rock and roll love child of Karen O and Joan Jett...The video is a live performance and gives us a taste of the kind of unbridled energy Zdan and her band are capable of unleashing onstage.” Glide Magazine

Brandy Zdan has released a live version of her song “Wild Fire” out on all platforms today. To accompany the track is a live video shot in one take in her hometown of Nashville by Joshua Shoemaker (Alabama Shakes, Margo Price, Hurray for the Riff Raff), watch it HERE.

Working with Shoemaker on the video was incredibly exciting for Zdan. “I’ve been a fan of Joshua Shoemaker’s work for quite some time so I was excited when he reached out to me about shooting a live performance video. It was a no brainer letting him take the reigns as our aesthetic and color palette were a perfect match,” she says. This track is originally from her sophomore record Secretear released earlier this year that Relix Magazine described as “riff-laden burners and mindful pop ballads [that] shine with emotional resolve and permanence.” Co-produced by Zdan and Teddy Morgan, she also recruited My Morning Jacket's Tom Blankenship and Carl Broemel to play with her on the record.

“Now she's in Nashville, and the Lone Star State's loss is our indie rock gain.”

-The Tennessean

Thematically, the album saw Zdan reaching into the darkest corners of her past and letting go of anything that has ever held her back. She dug deep into her rock roots to bring forth a set of raw, commanding tracks that Rolling Stone said explore “the middle ground between the Beatles, the Breeders and the Bangles.” Additional praise for the record has come from The Tennessean, B-Sides & Badlands, Popdust and more. Songs from Secretear can also be heard on Spotify playlists like Badass Women” “Rockin’ VibesandFierce Femmes.” “Wild Fire” is a track that sets the tone for who Zdan is as an artist and whose message and tempo were perfect to bring to a live setting. She said of the song, “Wild Fire is a middle finger to the liars and fakes who try to put you down and keep you down. And if they keep you down even for just a second you know full well that it's all just fuel to pick yourself up, regroup and come out of the gates even stronger."

Zdan is also currently out on the road making a stop in Chicago tonight before traveling to Texas for a few more shows.

LETHAL AMOUNTS GALLERY ANNOUNCES THE DEBUT EXHIBIT FROM ERICA WEITZ

LOS ANGELES GALLERY LETHAL AMOUNTS PRESENTS:

PRIMORDIAL ORDER

Debut Exhibit from Erica Weitz

Erica Weitz Primoridal Order showcard.jpg

Los Angeles gallery Lethal Amounts is proud to present the opening of Primordial Order, the very first solo exhibit by multi-disciplinary artist Erica Weitz. Opening night will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1st from 7-10 PM. The exhibition is a conceptual series of photography produced using the wet plate collodion technique, one of the first forms of photography from the 1850’s, and one Weitz is completely self-taught in. In this alchemical darkroom process, light activated silver is directly exposed onto black metal plates

Primordial Order serves as an experimental deep dive into entropy. It’s a collection of 13 images depicting universal motion from order to chaos. It harnesses the power of alchemy and numerology to navigate the journey of bringing these concepts to life through photography. Numerically, the show starts at 1 being a single exposure representing order, 2 a double exposure, 3 a triple exposure and up to 13 exposures in an image showcasing chaos.

Weitz is a Los Angeles based artist who graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree concentrating in painting and photography. Working in the field of documentary photography, she has traveled extensively while continuing a painting practice. Her work centers around themes of archetypal symbolism, spirituality and the human psyche. Having thrown underground art shows for years, Weitz is thrilled to finally bring her work to a gallery setting.

ABOUT LETHAL AMOUNTS

Lethal Amounts inhabits a physical gallery space in downtown Los Angeles that features three exhibition rooms and over 2,500 sq. ft.  The gallery focuses on subversive and counter culture themes throughout history, addressing the social and artistic value of underground movements while highlighting taboo topics. They showcase the extremes of individuals who have moved culture forwards, living on the edge and outside of societal norms. Rock ’n Roll of the past that has crossed over into pop culture fanaticism, street culture influences and cult hero worship. Artist who have shown in the gallery include Leee Black Childers (the house photographer for Andy Warhol’s Factory), famed punk rock photographer Edward Colver, Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Al Jourgensen, Psychic TV, John Wayne Gacy and more. Highlights from the past year include the “Nick Cave Smoking” exhibit, Shawn M. Crahan (of Slipknot’s) “His Whores Exhibit,” and an Anton LaVey event featuring an exhibit of photography and ephemera from the colorful, and notorious cultural icon.

“he has also championed people…...unconventional artists — many of them women, Latinx or LGBTQ — whose work is too provocative for more mainstream galleries.”
