Eleanor Buckland continues to push outside musical boundaries on her second single “Static” available on 8/20.

Fighting against her own anxiety and inspired by the fearlessness she witnessed in others, Eleanor went to the studio with a unique goal in mind. “In the studio, we wanted this song to have reckless momentum as is often the case with anxiety,” Eleanor explains. “So, we let the electric guitar and Wurlitzer drive that intensity of sound.”

Under The Radar  enthused in their premiere, “Restless driving rhythms and smoky guitar licks make their way to the forefront on, “Static,” introducing an anxious and insistent side to Buckland’s music…celestial harmonies add a stark beauty to the track, all while Buckland finds herself searching for hope and meaning, but drowned out by the noise of anxiety.”

Eleanor Buckland first made her mark in the Boston-based folk-rock trio Lula Wiles that has become an acoustic music scene favorite with their three critically hailed albums. During this time, however, Buckland was also working on another musical project – her own album. You Don’t Have To Know (due October 29 on Soundly Music) spotlights a different side of Buckland’s musical interests as it sets her deeply personal songs against inventive indie rock arrangements.

Last month, she debuted with the single “Don’t Look Down” that premiered on BTR Today: “…a catchy indie number that somehow perfectly juxtaposes feelings of desperation and gloom with optimism and hopefulness. With energetic indie beats paired with Buckland’s soothing delicate vocals, ‘Don’t Look Down’ creates a balance between dark and light energies that makes you feel cleansed within.”

On You Don’t Have To Know, Buckland takes listeners on an emotional journey as her songs address love complicated and love lost, explore struggles with depression and insecurity, and grapple with feelings of uncertainty and helplessness. Or as Buckland succinctly describes the album: “It’s about me trying to figure out who I am and who I was at that time.”

ABOUT ELEANOR BUCKLAND

Born and raised in Maine, Buckland comes from a family full of musicians. Her grandmother, Betty Buckland, was prominent in the New England bluegrass scene, while her father, Andy Buckland, played electric guitar in Boston area bands. It’s not surprising then that someone who grew up playing bluegrass fiddle music as well as a healthy dose of Michelle Branch and Sheryl Crow would wind up with varied musical tastes – something Buckland clearly demonstrates on her solo debut.

Today, Washington, DC-based duo The Slang has unveiled “Disguise,” the latest single from their forthcoming LP Divide, set for release on September 24th. “Disguise,” a hook-laden dreamscape that brims with shimmering guitars, explores our tendency to hide our true selves from others, and follows "Nothing Lasts Forever," about addictions, and unhealthy vices and attachments.

LISTEN // WATCH: “NOTHING LASTS FOREVER”

The album features 10 sparkling alt-rock gems written by co-founders John Bobo and Felix Nieto, and produced by Nieto. “It’s our first full-length album, so we used that to our advantage to take risks that we may not have on our prior EP’s,” explains Bobo. “As the expression goes, ‘Stories Don’t End,’ so what happens after the movie ends and the credits have rolled? Divide is an album about trying to overcome the inevitable, but continues asking that question of ‘what happens next?’”

Offering a distinct blend of power-pop, alternative, and contemporary rock, The Slang is comfortable testing genre lines and taking their time to capture the minutiae of modern life. With a laid-back intensity that infuses their music, lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalist John Bobo serves as the main songwriter while bassist/multi-instrumentalist Felix Nieto focuses on production. Both artists share a kind of low-key perfectionism: hands-on, hyper-attuned to textural detail, and aware of what elevates a song from good to great. “We want to do it right,” says Bobo. “And we’re willing to do whatever it takes to make the best possible track each time.”

With smooth vocals and striking guitar melodies, The Slang is often compared to bands like Snow Patrol and The Killers, but with a modern twist and more experimental production value. “We care about the experience, whether on headphones or at a live show,” says Nieto, whose production adds a sleekness and edge. Bobo’s introspective lyrics explore singular moments that define human relationships. This beautiful blend of respective talent is evident on Divide, which features the band’s characteristic melodic precision, bright, electric guitar-driven anthems, and top-quality production, but with a more pop-leaning sound.

Northern California’s three-piece Destroy Boys announce the release of their blistering new single “Locker Room Bully,” the third single from their forthcoming album Open Mouth, Open Heart produced by Will Yip, coming out October 8th. The album is available to pre-save and pre-order  HERE.

“Locker Room Bully” was written from the perspective of someone wrongly vilified and speaks to the power of social media to spread hurtful misinformation, which can be a powerful catalyst for misplaced anger.  With its fast and short format, social media and the internet, in general, can easily become a game of telephone, with people sharing half-truths about stories they have no real connection to - leading to a whole culture dedicated to canceling people online. But the song is far from a lament -  it’s a powerful and rage-fueled statement that calls out online bullying and the way it tears people apart.  “‘Locker Room Bully’ is a product of the anger, desperation, and sadness I’ve felt in the last year,” says front person Alexia Roditis. “Throughout my life, I’ve been confronted with people who don’t like me or don’t get what I’m doing or people who think they’re right about something they know nothing about. I am frustrated to no end. But ‘Locker Room Bully’  is also my line in the sand, I suppose -  a sign of letting go of people and situations I don’t control and don’t care about me.”

Open Mouth, Open Heart as a whole shows immense growth in the band both as musicians and people. Outspoken advocates for a myriad of social justice issues, especially when it comes to racial equality, LGBTQA+ rights, and inclusion for all, these themes are prevalent in their music, their actions, and how they use their platform. The 13 track album tackles themes of abuse, bullying, insecurity, as well as deeper familial forces and sees the band stepping into, and owning their power - and truly finding their voices. The record includes two songs written and performed in Spanish by Roditis who is half Argentinian. “‘Lo peor’ was a secret and I didn’t want most people to understand what it was,” she says about recording and releasing their very first songs in Spanish. “‘Te llevo conmigo’ is about my family and my grandparents and the people who came before me, and I wanted to sing in Spanish as a tribute to my dad’s side. Speaking Spanish is important to me and I wanted to incorporate it in some songs so as to further celebrate my culture.  I know a lot of our fans speak Spanish and I wanted to make something for them! So much rock is dominated by the English language, but there are so many good rock bands who speak Spanish and I wanted to contribute to that.”

Twelve of the thirteen songs on the album were produced and recorded by Will Yip at his studio near Philadelphia during an intense, productive, and isolated February 2021.  The shredding 1 minute track “Muzzle” was produced and recorded by Martin Cooke in Los Angeles shortly beforehand. “Working with Will was like nothing we had ever experienced before,” says Violet Mayugba “as a band and as people. Being in the studio with him was a completely immersive experience. He helped us transform our record from something good into something jaw-dropping.”

Destroy Boys are Violet Mayugba (guitar/vocals) and Alexia Roditis (vocals/guitar), rounded out by drummer Narsai Malik. The punk trio have been redefining West Coast punk, making waves from the California shoreline to the UK, sharing stages with up-and-coming bands like Mannequin Pussy as well as punk stalwarts such as Face To Face and Lagwagon. In addition to having racked up over 60 million streams, their music can be heard in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 game, and Tik Tok has embraced them to the tune of 20 thousand user-made videos and over 3.5M views. Their visceral personal tales have won over the hearts and ears of eager listeners who pack out their shows. After more than a year of no live music the band is thrilled to be getting back on the road on road including the Sad Summer Tour, which kicks off tomorrow where they will be sharing the stage with All Time Low, The Story So Far, The Maine, Movements, and Grayscale.

Northern California’s Destroy Boys are excited to announce the release of the video for their latest single  “Drink” along with summer and fall tour dates. The song was produced and mixed by Will Yip (Mannequin Pussy, The Menzingers, Quicksand, Code Orange etc.) Hopeless Records last month. “ ‘Drink’ [the song] is about being in a cycle of addiction that you can’t seem to escape,” says front person Alexia Roditis. “The video is about having visions that you’re afraid of becoming real life, becoming something you can’t control anymore. You’re not sure if you like this place you’ve been to before. But when you are deep enough to realize what’s going on, and that you want to change, sometimes it feels like it’s too late. “  The video takes the viewer through a hazy day in the life of the protagonist whose reality is someone between dreaming and reality.  “When dealing with alcoholism, days can often run together,” says director Katie Neuhof. “ Janet [our lead] is trapped in a never-ending cycle of work and drinking at the bar. Each time she enters the bar, things escalate, but she never notices. Finally, the other bar patrons take her to the dark side with them, trapping her in the bar forever”

I am happy to have been a part of that for some people.”  After more than a year of no live music the band is thrilled to be getting back on the road this summer starting Sad Summer Tour, dates with the Story So Far, and rounded out by headlining shows in the fall.

LOS ANGELES, CA –  Australian “singer, songwriter and guitar hero” (-Billboard) Hamish Anderson is excited to release the official music video for his new single “Morning Light”. It premieres today on Under The Radar Magazine.

“Anderson absolutely nails the guitar tone of a classic-era Stones track, delivering brilliantly bluesy guitar soloing, glam rock riffing, and a stomping drum part. The fervent backing vocals hint towards gospel and soul while the guitar offers up pure ‘70s swagger, hitting on a timeless mix of influences that Anderson revives with fresh energy…” – Under The Radar

For the video, Hamish says he found inspiration from “the Yellow Submarine/Sgt Pepper’s animation of The Beatles and also the quirky stop motion style that Monty Python used.  It has a bit of an Alice in Wonderland through the looking glass kind of feel and I hope it takes you on a trip!”

Released last month, “Morning Light” is his first new music since 2019s Out of My Head (winner of Independent Music Award for “Best Blues Album”). It also marks the first collaboration with co-producer David Davis (Miguel, The War on Drugs, Lauren Ruth Ward). The song was remotely produced while Hamish was in lockdown in Melbourne, Australia and the band – bassist Lauren Stockner; drummer Matt Musty (Grace Potter, Train); plus soulful backing vocals by Jessica Childress (Aloe Blacc, Allen Stone) - and producer David Davis were in Los Angeles, CA.

To compliment the acoustic version he’s been performing at live streams throughout the past year, Hamish will release a stripped back acoustic version of “Morning Light” on June 25.

------

“Punchy, bombastic and uplifting with just a pinch of washed-out psychedelia, the single is emblematic of Anderson’s sound as a whole. From the power of the driving rhythm section to the blissful way Anderson’s vocal melody falls over the chord progression, it’s almost impossible to listen to track without feeling a pull to bob your head, almost as if the raw energy of a band playing in a room together was coming right through your headphones…“ - American Songwriter

“Featuring as much ’70s rock swagger as you can handle, with driving guitars and a striking drum beat, [“Morning Light”] comes as a revelation for Anderson, a defining moment in his still-young career.” – V13.net

“…an exquisite blend of old school and contemporary vibes, he gives life to a truly refreshing and exciting sonic realm… There’s something about his voice that just invites us in and makes us feel at ease as we are guided through this unknown world.” – Wolf In A Suit

EARTH CITY 1: THE LONGING  || STREAM/SHARE

LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles-based artist/producer/composer Ethan Gold Earth City 1: The Longing, the first in a trilogy of albums about the alienation of our hyper-connected modern world, today.

The idea for the trilogy came to Ethan after a life changing experience. While working on a film score in New York, Ethan suffered a head injury in a freak accident. Following the accident, Ethan lost his ability to speak and do complex tasks like sound engineering – all of which he had to relearn. Last year, he spoke about the experience with GQ Magazine (South Africa) for an article about the power of meditation and mindfulness that has guided him through his recovery and to today.

He has released several singles from the album including the a-side/b-side: “Alexandria & Me” about the thrill of chasing ghosts of pre-gentrification downtown L.A. through a haunted hotel while hearing echoes of ancient Egypt and it’s counterpart, “In New York” which reaches out with romance and nostalgia to a vanished lover, or the splendor and struggle of life in New York City itself. “Pretty Girls” is about the allure and trap of perceived beauty. And “Bright & Lonely City” captures the isolation and attraction of city life, the video ads a narrative with people from all walks of life and different cities around the world searching for connection.

BUZZ

·       “A beautiful cinematic piece that captures the depths of life from all around the world.” - BTR Today (of “Bright & Lonely City” video)

·       “New York City likely has been the subject of more tributes than any other city on Earth. Ethan Gold adds his voice to the chorus with “In New York.” The gentle piano ballad is carried by gravelly vocals from Gold, extolling the highs, lows, and endless possibilities of the titular city.” – Under The Radar

·       “…a colorful montage that brings Gold’s heartfelt words to the big and small screen.” Glide Magazine

·       “Pretty Girls has quite a simplistic sound to it, but this only serves to make the song sound even more catchy – it’s poppy, yet never sounds too mainstream… a 60s pop feel to the track..” - York Calling

·      “The stark contrast between the two singles [“Alexandria & Me” and “In New York”] only speaks to the ability of Gold to convey a wide range of emotions in his music.” – Chorus.fm

ABOUT ETHAN GOLD:

Ethan Gold first stepped into public consciousness when he produced and arranged Elvis Perkins’ blog-hyped stunner Ash Wednesday. While moonlighting as bass player and resident musician in his brother Ari’s celebrity-driven folk party band the Honey Brothers, and also scoring his twin’s debut film Adventures of Power, Ethan continued honing his intensely sensitive music, eventually self-releasing his debut art rock album Songs From A Toxic Apartment to underground acclaim (“Emotions delivered with an unfiltered, glaring legibility”- Pitchfork) (Essential new releases -The Sunday Times UK). Other recent film scores produced during the recovery from his head injury include The Song of Sway Lake featuring John Grant and the Staves singing Gold’s music and 2019s Don’t Let Go.

Northern California’s Destroy Boys are excited to announce the release of their single “Drink”, produced and mixed by Will Yip (Mannequin Pussy, The Menzingers, Quicksand, Code Orange etc.) out now via Hopeless Records. Being keenly in tune with issues such as mental health and social justice that have been exacerbated by this past year, “Drink” is a raw and honest look at the relationship that can exist with mind-altering substances, and how it can be both destructive and comforting.  It examines painful patterns that are passed down through generations and the desperation to break those patterns.

This is the band’s second single with Hopeless and follows the blistering track "Muzzle,” released earlier this year.  Alternative Press called that song “Ferocious” and RockSound commented that with “less than a minute in length and packed tight with thrashing guitars and barked vocals, it's a kick to the temple that is simply impossible to ignore.”  Refinery 29 said “Destroy Boys aren't playing nice on ‘Muzzle,’  kicking ass and taking names in the high-energy new single about fighting back against the powers that be. Turn this one all the way up.”  The song has been added to top punk and alternative rock playlists on streaming services all around the world, in addition to SiriusXM’s Faction channel, and has received early spins on numerous radio stations in Europe.

Destroy Boys are a three-piece band founded by Violet Mayugba (guitar/vocals) and Alexia Roditis (vocals/guitar). Rounded out by drummer Narsai Malik they have been redefining West Coast punk, making waves from the California shoreline to the UK, sharing stages with up and coming bands like Mannequin Pussy as well as punk stalwarts such as Face To Face and Lagwagon.

The band have been outspoken advocates for a myriad of social justice issues, especially when it comes to racial equality, LGBTQA+ rights and inclusion for all, which is prevalent in their music, their actions and how they use their platform.  Simply being two-thirds female and fronted by a queer woman is uncommon in a scene traditionally dominated by straight men. Frontperson Alexia Roditis told Punkzine, “I think the scene is opening up and people are realizing that queer people, POC, people of different abilities, fat people, women, make BADASS MUSIC that is underappreciated. These people have always been in the scene and always made art, and I think we are moving towards appreciating it and uplifting those voices more. I am happy to have been a part of that for some people.”  After more than a year of no live music the band is thrilled to be getting back on the road on the Sad Summer Tour, which also features All Time Low, The Story So Far, The Maine, Movementss and Grayscale.

PRAISE FOR IMOGEN CLARK…

“… the song hits all the right pop heights as Clark soars above the instrumental on the anthemic chorus… ascends to dizzying pop rock brilliance.” – Under The Radar

“… poignant narrative and stellar musicianship.” Beat Magazine
“she commanded the stage with matchless acuity” – Sydney Morning Herald (4.5 stars)

Beloved Australian singer-songwriter, Imogen Clark, continues to deliver the goods, today releasing her stunning new single ‘First Class Man’ recorded with music great, Colin Hay.

The third single to be lifted from her forthcoming BASTARDS EP – due for release on Friday 21 May‘First Class Man’ is an emotive tribute to Imogen’s musical collaborator and mentor, the late Glen Hannah.

Glen, who passed suddenly in 2019 was a revered guitarist, award-winning producer and universally beloved member of the Australian music community.

“When I was 14 and just getting started as a musician, I met an incredible guitarist named Glen Hannah. Glen became an instant mentor to me and was a key part of some of the biggest, most important musical milestones of my life, including the first time I played with a band and the first big crowd I ever played in front of.

Glen came on the road with me a lot towards the end of his life and used to musically direct my band; he was a constant presence on the other end of a phone call when I needed advice from someone with experience and wisdom who I knew only had my best interests at heart.

In 2019, Glen lost his battle with depression, a battle I had no idea he was waging through the years we knew each other. It really goes to show that you never know what people are going through under the surface, and Glen was a classic example of the phrase “still waters run deep”. He was one of the most humble, talented, kind and generous people I knew, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about Glen and wish I could have done something to help.

When I sat down in LA earlier this year to write with one of my songwriting heroes Colin Hay, I knew he would be able to help me get these feelings out into a song which was proving too hard to write on my own. The song is for Glen and everyone who misses him, and I hope it reminds everyone to always check up on your friends and family if you think there’s a chance they might be hurting, because you’ll always regret it if you don’t.”

ABOUT IMOGEN CLARK

Imogen Clark is an Australian singer-songwriter, hailing from the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, whose music ranges from arena-ready rock anthems to raw confessional indie pop.

Since 2016, the 25 year-old has released two studio albums and one EP – 2020’s The Making Of Me – and featured on a number of compilation albums.

Cutting her teeth playing in local pubs in the Blue Mountains during her teen years before taking the stage with artists like Shania Twain, Ian Moss and Willie Watson, Imogen has worked relentlessly over the past decade building up her musical chops. She has worked with Mark Lizotte (Diesel), Kasey Chambers and Jim Lauderdale and cites Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) amongst her collaborators.

Released in August of last year, Imogen Clark’s The Making Of Me EP garnered widespread acclaim both in Australia and North America. Praised for its raw honesty by fans and critics, the six-track offering showcased Imogen’s powerful vocal and reflective lyrics.

Recorded in LA with producer Mike Bloom (Julian Casablancas, Jenny Lewis) at the helm, The Making Of Me features a star-studded line-up with players from some of the world’s greatest rock bands – from Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) on keyboard, to Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) on drums. Local artists Alex Lahey, Clare Bowen, Emma Swift, Anita Lester and more can be found across EP singles ‘Found Me’, ‘My Own Worst Enemy’, ‘The Making Of Me’, and ‘Paper Boat’.

Juliana Hatfield releases her second single “Gorgon,” today on American Laundromat Records. The song is featured on her 19th solo studio album Blood, “an irresistible catharsis laced with endless earworms” (- WBUR ) due 5/14/21. Juliana will celebrate the new album with a live stream performance from Q Division Studios on Saturday, May 8th at 4 pm ET.

Inspired by the Greek mythical creatures, Juliana sings of a non-compliant, discontented woman who escapes from the chains of love on “Gorgon”: “I never said I was an angel / I never said I ever cared / I never promised anyone anything / no enchanted fairytales / you must have interpreted it wrong / because I don’t sing love songs”

Playing all the instruments on the track, “it was fun building it up from scratch and then letting it all hang loose in the long free-pop/jazz outro,” Juliana explains. “Recording at home, there’s no one stopping me from indulging in every wacky musical whim that pops into my head.”

It was preceded in January by the gritty and abrasive, yet groovy and melodic first single “Mouthful of Blood” to the delight of critics.

"[‘Mouthful of Blood’] super-catchy, lightly melancholic power-pop tune that reminds me of Hatfield’s influence on bands like Best Coast and Colleen Green.” - Stereogum

“…a jangly number that recalls her Blake Babies days which also features some Beatlesque orchestration.” – Brooklyn Vegan

"[‘Mouthful of Blood’]’s catchy and melodic, even as it tackles a serious topic.” - Spin

“…a churning guitar riff.” – Rolling Stone

“Over an ebullient, guitar-driven arrangement, Hatfield’s new single “Mouthful of Blood” examines the complicated nature of exercising your freedom of expression without fear of repercussion.” – Albumism

“The forever great and perpetually unfuckwithable Juliana Hatfield has been spoiling us with new music over the past few years…. Underneath the [‘Mouthful of Blood’]’s bubbly demeanour is Hatfield’s usually whipsmart lyricisms, and here, her mouth is bleeding from having to bite her tongue so damn much.” – Vanyaland

Blood is available for pre-order now on American Laundromat Records.

Nashville’s Alt. Rock chart topper Zayde Wølf, the musical persona of  Grammy nominated producer and songwriter Dustin Burnett has released a beast of a single “Holy Water,” one his most powerful songs to date, a bold statement being that his music has yielded over 400 Million streams and has served as the motivational soundtrack for millions of fans, who have found the strength and inspiration to overcome life’s toughest challenges in Wølf’s music. I get all these emails,” Burnett told Billboard, “with all these stories about how the music has moved people in some way. I wanted to continue to make music for people to be inspired by."

“Holy Water” follows the formula of some of the most memorable songs ever written, being that it manifested quickly, unexpectedly and was a last-minute addition to the album. It was one of those accidental songs that emerged once Burnett released his creative boundaries as he felt the album was finished. "I didn't try to write ‘Holy Water’ on purpose, it was already in there, a raw and personal moment, just waiting for me to release it,” says Burnett.  "Sometimes when you remove all of your boundaries on your creativity, something new, surprising, and even fantastic emerges. I think ‘Holy Water ‘was that for me."

“Holy Water,” which is featured on Spotify's All New Rock and New Noise playlists  follows up the anti-hero inspired song “Madness,” that  Indie Obsessive said was filled with  “thunderous percussion, backing vocal shouts, and crescendos that contribute to the pandemic-like motivational effect that ‘Madness’ builds in listeners,” and was immediately swooped up for us all throughout the NCAA March Madness tournament by CBS and Turner  Sports. “Back At It” Zayde Wølf’s  first taste of the new music this year, was a powerful entry that Apiate called “ an energetic pop/rock track that carries the musician’s signature electronic-infused style. Zayde’s lyrics are reminiscent and uplifting and he delivers the song with infectious exuberance,” setting the tone for what 2021 had in store for Zayde Wølf fans, his third full length album Neon Blood Type. This album follows the 2018 release of Modern Alchemy, Zayde Wølf’s sophomore full-length album, which charted in over 25 countries on the iTunes charts and debuted in the top ten on the iTunes Alternative chart in the U.S. within hours of its release.

Neon Blood Type signifies everything that is unique within people and within Burnett. “

- American Songwriter

Unintimidated by his past successes, Dustin Burnett (aka Zayde Wølf) has always been solely focused on making music that helps listeners to push through and overcome life’s challenges.  This motivational mentality of transcending the past, and not allowing it to define who you will be, are not just concepts Burnett has embraced, but it’s how he has lived his life. Raised in Metropolis, a small town in Illinois best known for its fictional favorite son, Clark Kent, the level of success Burnett has achieved, both personally and professionally, is beyond anything he ever imagined or that was expected of him growing up. The Zayde Wølf project which started by accident five years ago has grown into an empire that includes 245K YouTube subscribers, 90 million video views, over 1.4 Million monthly listeners on Spotify, with 400 million streams across all streaming platforms and millions of followers, all outside of the mainstream music business (i.e no label, no publishers etc.).  This is on top of the hundreds of films, TV shows, trailers, commercials, and video games that have featured his music. The list includes Shameless, Skyscraper movie, Love-Simon movie, the Jack Reacher 2, The Maze Runner 3, Pride Prejudice & Zombies, spots for UFC, MLB, NFL, Dodge, Jeep, WWE, Xbox, NBA, and more. In addition to syncs, Wølf has creatively expanded his reach by cultivating partnerships with brands such as Dude Perfect, one of the top YouTube sports channels with over 54 Million subscribers and 12 Billion views. Other creative partnerships include collaborations with Fortnite champion DrLupo, and extreme downhill racers Rémy Métailler and Matt Walker. Last year Burnett partnered with the NHL and  NBC sports for the Stanley Cup Finals where they used the Zayde Wølf track  “Home” in a spot featuring Burnett performing the song  HERE, and most recently was the featured celebrity guest on the Gamer Hour where Burnett and Host Chris Puckett talked about their love for video games and went head to head live playing  Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.

"LEAVE HER JOHNNY" – WATCH | LISTEN

Alan Doyle, Canadian national treasure and unofficial ambassador of Newfoundland's rich musical traditions, will release a new EP, Back to the Harbour - a collection of songs to celebrate his love of folk music – on May 21. The album was produced by Joel Plaskett at The New Scotland Yard in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Featured alongside Doyle on the album are Kendel Carson and Cory Tetford from his touring band, along with Plaskett himself.

Back to the Harbour features three original songs plus unique spins on three classics: "Back Home on the Island" by one of Newfoundland's most popular musical groups Wonderful Grand Band; "Let It Be Me" popularized by legendary duo The Everly Brothers; and the first single, the shanty "Leave Her Johnny."

"Leave Her Johnny" is available at all digital streaming services and retailers today.

"This shanty of a ship’s last day is one of the dozen or more songs I don't remember learning," Alan says of "Leave Her Johnny." "I realize this may seem odd to some, as in most parts of the world people have one or two songs they don't remember learning, like Happy Birthday or Silent Night. But in Newfoundland we have so many songs that are just part of our language. I doubt many from around here could tell you when they learned I'se The B'y or Lukey’s Boat. We just know them."

Back to the Harbour follows Rough Side Out, Doyle's chart-topping country album released last February, and Songs from Home, a collection of music from Doyle and an all-star lineup of Newfoundland artists, which was released in November. Doyle – the songwriter, producer, actor and author – is a 12-time JUNO Award nominee for his solo material and work with his iconic band Great Big Sea. In 2018, he was awarded the Order of Canada for his contributions to the musical traditions of Newfoundland and for his commitment to numerous charitable initiatives. His most recent book, All Together Now: A Newfoundlander's Light Tales for Heavy Times, was released in November 2020 and quickly became a national bestseller.

DESTROY BOYS RELEASE THEIR SNARLING NEW SINGLE “MUZZLE” AN ANTHEM FOR THE UNSEEN + ANNOUNCE SIGNING TO HOPELESS RECORDS

DESTROY BOYS  RELEASE THEIR SNARLING

NEW SINGLE “MUZZLE” AN ANTHEM FOR THE UNSEEN +

ANNOUNCE SIGNING TO HOPELESS RECORDS

"Channeling the spirit of anarchic American garage rock and melodic sensibilities of classic Bay Area punk into short snarling songs, Sacramento’s Destroy Boys whip up noise that is truly timeless.” - Rock Sound

“The band’s sardonic, biting tunes are a perfect blend of political subterfuge, headbang-able rhythms, and the overall catharsis of unrestrained self-expression. It’s scratchy punk that reminds listeners that it doesn’t really matter how technically sound you are, although Destroy Boys certainly have that covered as well, it’s about the passion, dammit.” - V13

“Destroy Boys have earned high-profile fans like Billie Joe Armstrong all before graduating from high school.” - UPROXX

“If Destroy Boys are showing us a current direction punk is going in, maybe we should let them lead us there.”  - If it’s Too Loud

LISTEN TO “MUZZLE”: HERE

The San Francisco Bay Area’s Destroy Boys are excited to announce the release of their hard-hitting compact new single “Muzzle,” out today through their new label partner Hopeless Records.

They’ve also racked up over 40 million streams, with the numbers ticking upward every day without fail. Their visceral personal tales of scene bullies, elitist cliques, betrayal, and unrequited love have won over the hearts and ears of eager listeners ranging from the fervent teens who pack out their shows to Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong (see his mention in the Rolling Stone cover story HERE via Instagram HERE).

“Led by singer Alexia Roditis’ sarcastic and wistful singing and Vi Mayugba’s shredding guitar, held down by Narsai Malik on drums, they pay homage to and represent an evolution of all things classically punk, making music that is a searing reminder of how recklessly expressive punk rock was designed to be.”  - Culture Collide

Having gotten their start playing shows and touring while they were in high school, they’ve seen and dealt with the same issues many teenagers face in a world run by adults: Being talked down to, brushed off, ignored, taken for granted, pre-judged - if they are even seen at all.  These experiences channel directly into their music and that authenticity is one of the main reasons for their rapid rise. Now in their early 20’s, their experiences are no less fraught with similar hurdles. The new single “Muzzle,” is a blistering track exploding with aggression and energy, produced by Martin Cooke (Death Cab For Cutie, Of Monsters And Men, and producer of Destroy Boys last LP Make Room). The song tackles feelings of being seen as disposable and subhuman, feeling out of control and taking your power back. It's an anthem for the unseen, written by Mayugba, and inspired by a toxic relationship where she was mistreated by a man she was in a relationship with. With “Muzzle” Mayugba also takes her first role as lead vocalist, seething out the lyrics  "You don’t know me / You don’t see me / You think I’m trash and you think I’m mean / I am not your fucking mannequin / Clothes pin call up your weekend sin / I am not your Polly Pocket girl /Chucking me in your donate bin."

The band is thrilled that “Muzzle” is their first release with Hopeless, a label whose diversity and particularly the number of women on staff, is something that really appealed to them.  “It’s important to have women, and queer people, people of color, and differently-abled people in all aspects of the music industry, to have that support. Now we’re able to have more of a say in who we work with, and when you have that kind of control, you should do good with it,” says Roditis.  “We’re really excited to be in a place where we can create the album we want to create,” she continues. ”They took our project very personally; they were really excited about us, and they don’t seem to want to infringe on what we have. They want us to maintain our own vision.”

"We are so excited to be working with Destroy Boys,” says Hopeless Records Vice President of Marketing Erin Choi. “They're incredibly talented and have such a powerful vision for who they are as a band. They inspire us as people, creatively, and through their passion for social justice. We think they're a great fit for the Hopeless roster."

“Muzzle” is just a taste of what’s to come. The band is working on a new album with Will Yip (Quicksand, The Menzingers, Mannequin Pussy), a producer they highly admire and respect. As for touring, after a 2020 that promised tours with Against Me! and Vundabar, as well as a slot on the Sad Summer Festival, the band’s live trajectory was momentarily checked by the pandemic. But as hopes for future touring grow stronger the group are excited about finally getting back out in front of people, both in the US and abroad.

AUSTIN, TX. – 3x Austin Music Award-winning sister trio Tiarra Girls - singer and guitarist Tori Baltierra, bass player Tiffany Baltierra and drummer Sophia Baltierra –will release their cover of  “Can’t Stop The World” on Lucky Hound Music on 9/25 with updated lyrics by the Go-Go’s Kathy Valentine to reflect a timely version of the song.

“With everything that is happening in the world, from the pandemic to racial violence to wildfires, the Tiarra Girls still manage to bring the heat, including their recent with Kathy Valentine…The Go-Go’s classic ‘Can’t Stop The World.’” - Bust Magazine

“I am so proud and happy that ‘Can’t Stop The World’ has been recorded and released by the Tiarra Girls,” says Kathy Valentine. “They are the perfect band to carry the strong message of empowerment and resilience that the song represents.”

Much like the Go-Go’s did in the 80s, Tiarra Girls are pushing boundaries within the music industry and beyond as three politically-minded, bi-cultural fourth generation Mexican-Americans women interested in pursuing music without limits blending rock, Latin, pop, soul, reggae, blues, and world music.

“We absorbed a lot of what we heard in our dad’s enormous record collection, and our own listening. All those subconscious influences come out when we write songs or arrange a cover.”

Before they were in high school, Tiarra Girls began composing their own songs and adding them to their sets, writing arrangements that drew on reggae, ska, rock, cumbia and other Latin sounds. In 2016, they received the award for Best Performing Band Under 18 at the Austin Music Awards, and won again in 2017 and 2018. “We play everything – anything we like,” Tori said. ”People want to narrow us down to indie rock with a Latin influence, but we play blues, pop, Tejano, anything that sounds good. There are no rules when you create music. You have to follow your feelings and let the song tell you how it wants to come out.”

Tiarra Girls released their first recording, a protest song called “Leave It To the People,” after the 2016 election and promoted it with a series of public service announcements for Rock the VoteJolt and Voto Latino, encouraging young people to vote. In 2017, they made a three song, self-titled EP that showed off their diversity. “I Made a Garden” was a rocker, “Lonely Room” had a jazzy/funk feel and “Answers” rode a mellow reggae/ska backbeat.

“Can’t Stop The World” is their first release for Lucky Hound Music, out on 9/25.
